Where did you pick up your original Sako mounts? I have sourced one set but want another!

I had one of the earlier tang safety 77 RSI’s in 308 . The gun shot plenty well for deer , only real issue I had with it was an inconsistent trigger let off and I fixed that by putting in a RifleBasix seat kit I think it was called .After that it went from an inconsistent 2 3/4 to 3 1/2 pound trigger pull down to a very stable 1 1/2 pound trigger . I sold it to a fellow I know for about 800 pounds ten years ago . Now in the USA a nice clean unworn tang safety 77 RSI will bring about 1100 pounds .
Would love to own a Steyr, Sako or Mauser stutzen.
I currently stalk with a very practical and somewhat dull Browning A-bolt Synthetic stalker in 243. Can’t really fault it as it’s always done it’s bit if I do mine but I do hank after something different once in a while.
I have seen some nice 243s ( some belters on Guntrader) but not sure I want to go through the hassle of having to rehome my existing rifle and it does have its place.
So for those of you experienced with the stutzen way of life can I ask for opinions on living with 7x57 (275) or 308?

.243 is a superb deer round. Very accurate, flat and easy to buy or reload. Fine for reds in Scotland too and it is far quieter than a .270.

I have a .308 stutzen with 18/19in Barrel and it is lovely and balanced to carry and bring to the shoulder but it is loud and there is significant muzzle blast. I cannot see the impact of a shot like I can with the moderated .243. And I find I miss that. You don’t notice the noise when stalking but it is just as loud then as when on the range when you wear ear defenders.
No personal experience but am told 7x57 is more gentle but I can’t imagine it being that much different.
i love having the stutzen, I wanted one since drooling over bsa airsporter versions in local shop as a boy but I wouldn’t want one as my only rifle. Does that make it the Land Rover of rifles?

My Steyr one is in 7mm-08 which was a deliberate choice as I wanted a Stutzen, and 7mm-08 is essentially exactly the same as 7x57, except that it can use shorter actions and barrels more happily. And I'm very happy indeed with it. My other rifle is a 7x65R drilling, so admittedly I like to go off-piste.

I've found reloading about the same level of difficulty as perfecting making a decent loaf of bread, if you know what I mean. I stopped developing the bread when I thought that if I'd bought it in a shop, I'd be happy with it. Similar with reloading: it wasn't that hard to follow a process to get to a round that is at least as good as anything I'd bought and readily available. But then you can also go obsessive about it.
I had a 7x57R drilling before and that had a 24" barrel so it was really good. I don't think 20" would have obtained the best from it but it would certainly have been fine. You tailor the load to your rifle. But it would have been slower. I suspect that 7mm-08 is more future proof though. But I don't think deer know that.

Do you think this is an example of where that fast, light & Frangible or slow and heavy comes Ito play?
I’m not sure but imagine the 7x57 in Stutzen would be 19-20” so perhaps heavy for calibre with slower powder would be best?....looking for maximum thump from a short barrel
Wonderful rifle's, I had one and hated to expose it in times of bad weather. Sheer joy to carry.
