Svemko ultra 1.0 vs fryer & devik 338 UTS

I'm looking at these two sound moderators for a new rifle as I want maximum sound reduction with the weight also to be a minimum as it will be a rifle i will be hiking up in the hills and mountains etc

People's thoughts on them if they own one or seen one in use as I've never seen or heard one in use I'd like too see one in use if anyone has one I can
I'm not interested in other brands of mods made from aluminium I've had them all over the years want titanium for the powder burn with 50plus grains of powder going down it hot

Any info thoughts experience much appreciated

I just put a review in the Svemko topic about our magnum 1.0's. Sound reduction is very good, better then expected.
They are over barrel, so balance is fine with an R8. Couple of gram weight differce is not really relevant as far as I am concerned, not enough in it to really make a difference.
Really like the QD mount, very quick and easy to take off, you could do it on the spot in the hills if that makes transport easier.

F&D mods had a number of failures- documented elsewhere.

Svemko are top quality and being used by top end gunmakers
Yes they did in there earlier models not so now from what I heard etc

Are they good at sound reduction and recoil reduction from use yourself?

Svemko are very well made bit of an ugly duckling to me much prefer smooth finish not going on a tactical rifle

Mine will be going on a r8 too

Yes that is a very good point about that QD mount for walking around etc
So the sound and recoil should be on the ultra being slightly bigger than magnum
Only thing is with svemko is the style looks of it not to my taste f&d does look better but its all about sound reduction mainly recoil reduction firstly

Sound and recoil reduction are very subjective and will be difficult to compare. Sound is mixture of both tone / pitch / frequency and loudness / energy.

Recoil reduction is a function of weight of the moderator and reduction in velocity of the propellant gases (reducing their momentum).

Only way you can tell would be to shoot them on the same rifle with same cartridge. Also you need to use comparable models. Chances are your senses will be different to the next person.

Yes totally agree with that

Svemko is probably going to be a better performer at a guess due to more rear volume and total volume of moderator but not the best looking

very hard in uk to try both out unless someone had one to use etc with the moderator laws

It's a tool, not a fashion item...
(Says he who has a much too pretty and impractical R8 Silverstone edition... 😁)

Tbh I do not think them to be ugly, but that is very subjective. Pic from my wifes Huntec Camo with the Svemko:

Yes it is a tool but I'm fussy like what i like ha just prefer clean lines not all the steps and flutes they put in it but can over look that for performance side of things ha

Thats the appeal to me of them the weight never heard any of them in person whats sound and recoil like to others you've used comparable etc
I've posted on here before about them (search is good) but I really rate them for dB/weight reduction. I simply don't know the FW149 is on the end of my 20" .243 Sako 75, the UTS131 lives on my 20" Tikka T3X .2370 and the UTS231 on my 20" Sako S20 .308. If I had my time over, I wouldn't have gone for the 231 but another 131 for the .308. I did have gas cutting on a FW169 on the .308s but F&D gave me a heavy discount on the 231 as a replacement so I took it.

They are really good. I cannot compare to F&D, but shot a couple others and they do make a big difference. Most times closeby deer just don't run after the shot, it's almost strange to see.

Thanks for that I'll come test listen to yours then haha
I was going for the f&d 338 because for what it is it's still light weight to me for size etc also will be going on a hot calibre so thought of gas burner inside also more volume for recoil reduction etc

Thanks for that yes just from doing my own research on design etc I could see they would work great and built well just that outer tube is not for me but the quick lock mount is also helpful could remove for walking too

I use a 338 on a 7PRC R8 stalking rifle. Very good noise suppression and recoil reduction. Everyone I’ve stalked with or used with on the range has remarked how quiet it is. I’ve not heard the Svemko so can’t comment on that but the 338 is very, very good.

Thanks for that if thats the case sounds good to me
What did you use before you got the 338?
I think they look neat design too
For size of it great weight its more recoil reduction is important noise is always a bonus

I have a Freyr uts 231 and think it’s fantastic. Very light and very quiet.

I’ve also tested several mods on a 22250 and the Freyr uts 338 was unbelievably good compared to all the others.

I used the first generation of F&D mods on a 300 Norma and 6CR. Still using both but the 338 is far superior.

Thanks for that what other mods did you rest against the f&d 338?
If you wasn't so far away I'd ask if I could come hear it in person ha
