Swallow, Swift and Martin watch!

saw first swift and swallow on the 19th in Weeting Norfolk.

Also saw some at Caister on sea on Saturday, certainly getting about but will leave soon as due to get colder soon

I've seen a few great skuas patrolling the edges of the gull nesting sites but no sign of swallows yet.

First four swallows back here on Wednesday that’s four days later than usual for us on the Nidderdale / Wensleydale border... can’t say I blame them! Weathers been shocking!!

Two House Martins up the farm last night and later when up for a spy at the roe there and walking back in the near dark there were 2 pipistrelles working between the lee of the trees and the old farm house.

The wife also saw 2 Sea eagles yesterday afternoon, pretty high up, she initially thought it was a couple of hang gliders !! sorry I missed that but will be keeping the eyes peeled.

Cheers

A.M.

Our first swallow arrived all by himself on the 19th - two days later than last year. Another arrived a couple of days later and they're busy renovating their usual nest. Not as many this year though....we usually have three pairs nesting. Anybody else noticing fewer birds than last year?
