Swallow, Swift and Martin watch!

A mildish sort of day today if you can have that with an East breeze.

That's the winter wheat sown up behind mine and at the same time the next door neighbours were at the spring barley with 2 combines working away.

The conservation flower crop will be going in next I would think, harrowed and drilled.

Plenty bats about tonight and hardly any geese at the burn tonight, but in saying that they have been in big numbers the last few weeks and always move on after a spell.

No sign of the lone swallow tonight.

The year has gone in fast and no summer so to speak of.

Cheers

I saw quite a lot of Swallows hawking about in North Devon yesterday when I was on my travels. Hope they find enough fuel for their upcoming long journey. :tiphat:

I still see a family of 6 swifts here yet, the youngsters were getting fed on the wing 2 weeks ago, I can't remember seeing them here as late on in the season, 18m west of Edinburgh.

Quite a few passed through yesterday, early ones were heading north, but most were going east, we are on the Sussex coast.

I was in the FoD last weekend and saw a few flying over Cannop ponds. Couldn't identify swift or swallow at distance and without glass but another lady nearby was watching and commented that it was nice to see them so early.
