Swarovski Binoculars Repair charge

Hi all,
I’ve recently sent my Swarovski 10.52 EL range binos off for repair. They have sent me an invoice for £246. I have never been charged by them before nor have I spoken to anyone who has. I buy Swarovski because of the lifetime warranty and customer service. Has anyone else had any experience with this? (The barrels wouldn’t focus)

Rather than asking on here, I would ask Swarovski UK directly what the fees are for.

There is one thing having a warranty for defects during manufacture. Another thing entirely repairing what has been just wear and tear or abuse from the user.

Yea just paid something similar.
I think if it’s defective it’s in then if it’s the range finding bits then yea it’s on you.

That is a shame in one respect, swaro have always been miles in front for service, the search for better higher tech spec has to be paid for somewhere - sadly sign of the times unfortunately

How old are they?
I got a pair of exactly the same bino's last year, knowing they were damaged. Swarovski fixed them foc in January this year and they are just over 10 years old

IIRC the electronic bits have a much shorter warranty than the rest, possibly 2 years versus 10. Not the lifetime warranty you used to get.

My issue is that there are like brand new as I’ve always looked after them for that price. I have emailed them thank you. I was just asking for people’s experience’s. Thanks for your input.

In that case you absolutely should be discussing the fee with them. Are you going via their UK distribution or have you gone straight to Austria - in which cases fees are probably due to customs

I have previously had a pair of Swarovski ELs away for service through the UK office and was charged a similar fee for new lenses.

An unwelcome surprise but set against the cost that would have been required to replace them with a new pair I thought it was still pretty good value.

Needless to say though, I’ve since sold my Swarovski binoculars and opted for a pair of Vortex Fury rangefinder binoculars with a lifetime unconditional warranty.

Yes optically they are not quite as pin sharp as the Swarovski but in the practical application of using them for deer management they’re very good and I’ve not had any issues identifying deer in low light conditions.

It did cross my mind but I have a few Swarovski scopes and such for the customer service but has really made me think twice. I’ve always told people to buy their stuff for the warranty and customer service. Feel a bit put out by it

I sent them to the UK office, but when they got delivered they were just dropped off outside the office and it was a few days before i was notified they had been received. Wether there had been a issue in transit

Got mine there for repair currently as rangefinder button broke and diopter issue, plus full clean and new eye cups, got quote for £147 delivered back to me. EL 10x42, 10+ years old.

I sent my aproximately 10 year old binos for servicing and I’ve been charged similar sort of money for getting some worn parts replaced.
