Swazi opinions

Hello just wondering about people's opinions on Swazi clothing using their aegis waterproof lining?

I have the old gore-tex tahr and was going to get the new xp version. Seems there is a lot of difference of opinions when I have asked about including some professional stalkers who hated theirs.

Thanks

The Aegis fabric is nowhere near as hard wearing as the Goretex use to be. Having said that, I think that the Aegis is significantly more breathable.
I had a Tahr Goretex, then a Tahr Aegis, and have recently purchased a Kagoule Aegis. The Kagoule is really well thought out and excellent to wear all day even if it stops raining. The only down side are the cuffs, would have preferred the neoprene as per Tahr.

The only damage I had on either Tahr was ripped side seams at the bottom, caught on tractors/excavator when getting in or out. The Kagoule is shorter so hoping this won't happen again.

Also love my Tahr smock. Been going for it over my prohunter jacket these days. It's just so light and breathable. Only downside is the limited pockets.

More breathable than goretex?

In my opinion..... Yes. The outer face of the Aegis is very different to the outer on the Goretex that Swazi used. The Aegis does not seem to wet out anywhere near as much as the Goretex use to, therefore maintaining breathability better. And yes, I do know how to prevent a fabric from wetting out.

The ultimate jacket for me would be the Kagoule in the Goretex of my first Tahr. Like many on here, I work outside every day, manual work, the Kagoule is ideal because of the positioning of the pockets. It is almost a copy of another favourite of mine; Fjallraven Anorak No 8.

I have not damaged an Aegis jacket as of yet, but that is because I am very aware of how thin the fabric is and am using it accordingly.

Thanks, good to know. I've seen a few of the new Swazi stuff and the outer does seem to be "cheaper" looking. I'm always dubious about "breathable membranes" I have a few waterproof coats and really like the Kuiu Yukon I have, the problem is I can't get a DWT to stick to it!!! Ive tried Daves Wader stuff also, the outer gets saturated causing condensation inside. I like the look of Swazi gear and will consider getting one.

Does anybody know the crack when ordering direct from New Zealand? I heard you had to pay import tax or something.

Are right thanks for that, checked the nz prices and based on that extra tax and shipping definitely still cheaper than here.

Sometimes you get lucky and no import tax is applied.
No rythme nor reason to it.
Pity that exchange rate is so poor at the moment as Swazi gear is gooood.
