I have read good things about the T20 torches for lamping out to 150yds but there seems to be a wealth of T20 torches available online all made by different manufacturers. Is there one manufacturer that stands out as the best?

Are there some manufacturers I should try to avoid?

Who makes the authentic/original T20?

Gary

I have 2 nightforce T20,s from Ebay china nowt wrong with them aircraft ally ,and cheap as chips both over 2 years old now with adjustable beams .Many tackle tarts rate Ludicrous Lumans torches also on ebay <their own shop> and Evo on there does a range of highly rated T series torches upto 75mm lens.
Choice is yours drop a £20 ebay or drop a £40 special both do a job ,dont know who first came up with the idea .The main thing is decent 18650 batteries and charger for it ,dont buy anything "surefire "or any with fire in the name.I buy ex laptop batteries which are just 18650,s soldered together but they are the best as computer geeks dont do sh.. battery life .atb

Since I will be using the torch just for rabbits, which colour is best. Will white affect my eyes night vision ability? The scope on my .22lr has a illuminated red dot and so I am concerned that will not show up well with a red torch.

Is there a particular colour that rabbits can't see very well?

have a look at torchfactory, best prices i have found,

but search around there there is another lad who does them at ludicrous lumin's but a bit more money than torch factory,

my go to torch is the T38. 3 mod i use a red led and with the 3 levels you can adjust it as needed, i have to be honest level one is not much cop but 2/3 are ok with my 17 hmr,

please for the love of god get a good mount all this clamp on and of stuff just moves around to much and all you do is spend your time checking it's pointing in the correct direction,

I generally use a red for rabbits, also like green. Stay away from white in my opinion. Rabbits generally don't like white and tend not to sit.

Red for rabbits +1 from me and as bobjs says use decent scope mounts to piggy back it on your scope those quick clamps move like a 2 year old after a can of fizzy pop atb

Hi Gary, if you want to have a look at some T series torches I work very close to Cambridge.
I prefer the TR-38 and buy from Ludicrous-Lumens but have a T38 and a T50 too, I like red for rabbits and also have green which shows up foxes amazingly.

Shout if you want a look, ben

Thanks Ben I will. The purchase is hold as it looks like I am losing my permission as it was linked to my work and I have recently changed jobs. I am now on the search for a permission with vermin shooting closer to home, just north of Cambridge. Once I find somewhere I will PM you Ben as I am keen to get more lamping in and so will need a scope mounted torch.

Cool, hope you sort something out. I lost a lot of land two years ago inc. what we lovingly referred to as "muntjac hill" so I know how you feel.

The T20 is base unit which has been used by the NV community as a starter for illumination
The original as bought from China has a basic white pill
Most valuable in UK have this removed and replaced with more powerful units in IR or other visible spectrum pills .
Some guys have set up and buy in bulk direct and get their logos etc printed on and some now get the pill pre done
The T38 T50 & T67 where brought about by the UK builders with the pills already done and the range of lens sizes
I still prefer the T20 and have 3. 2 are direct $18 imports with the basic white pills
The IR one was a UK custom £40 with 940nm pill now up graded to a Sunranger with 850nm pill thoI not the latest one.

So buy any
you can get what ever colour pill you want from several UK suppliers to change it
