Hi all,

After any opportunities to get some shooting in before my DSC practical in early May. Happy to go out privately or at range etc. just keen to get some practice in with sticks / bipod etc.

North Cumbria / South Scotland / West Northumbria type areas ideal.

SGC holder, will be applying for FAC next month and have experience with section 1s.

Obviously willing to cover costs.

Thanks in advanced.

What about Gardners Guns range at Longtown?

As @VSS says... if you are happy with the noise and recoil of centre fire, practice with sticks and an air rifle.
My greatest concern was being able to visualise the "kill zone's" on the target.
About a tenner buys you the DMQ target, and I spent a fair bit of time working out the aim point for chest.. head is easy at 10/20 m.. just aim between the ears on the top of the head (about 2"" high)

Good luck

Practice off the sticks and practice the head shot in particular as these tend to confuse folk the most. Worth going to gardeners when it's busy and shooting with other people watching you too. That pressure of being judged gets people too - just ask Rory!

For completeness, practiced plinking in the garden and got used to sticks. On my assessment day we got a good bit of time to look at the target and become comfortable with the heart / lung shot area so was happy enough with that too.

Long as the short of it is I had no issues with the DSC test and got through first time no bother!

Assessor Glyn was fantastic.

Were you tested at Grayrigg last weekend?
