Teckel Temperament

My pup, 5 months, found herself a mouse in the garden this afternoon and was trotting about with it, still squeaking, in her mouth. Wasn't keen to bring it to me, but gave it up without a fight when I caught up with her. Very disappointed when I threw it over the fence. Spent all afternoon looking for a new one.

I recently repaired the garage roof with torch on, (many small leaks Asbestos corrugated), I had promised SWMBO once it was weatherproofed I would drag everything out, build shelving etc & put everything back ... Otto must have tripped me up a hundred times during the day mousing in there.

Good brownie points/hunting credit there Steve.......I'll make sure my missus doesn't read your post - I've managed her expectations over the years

Mine is very laid back and happy sleeping Loves attention, reasonably biddable. Seems to hate water. When I first saw her on a tracked deer I was amazed to be fair. Very aggressive. Seems to have a great off switch. She has gone to ground and has tracked a lost fox Not sure how she would do as a hunting dog in cover but takes lines well enough. She’s a good little mate

She's lovely and everything but I might have to give Gwen away... or at least shave her!

Good grief, they know how to pick up those little sticky seed balls, don't they?! 😩😂

Wonderful, fussy, loveable, little, self determined pal. Will do anything you want until she sees deer then it is "Up yours I'm off". Wouldn't be without her, hunts deer finds deer, but I consider anybody who has more than one should receive psychological treatment.

Maybe teckel owners must visit it once like Catholics to Rome. It moved to Regensburg two years ago from Passau. I will have go sometime as it is only 60kms away.
Here the English website.
There was big procession of them in Regensburg on 22nd September but I did not get informed in time 1,700+ teckels were there.

A German friend’s recounts the exploits of Eddie the Eagle - a Teckel that got this name as his favourite sport was jumping onto the backs of wild boar and then grabbing hold of the mane and riding them through the forests towards the hunters.

Size is a major weakness for them.

Don't 'shave' whatever you do - you'll end up with an even softer coat. Get her stripped a couple of times a year and her coat will improve.

Any recommendations for good YouTube/Facebook/web pages or sites with videos of working teckels hunting.

Thanks
