The Boot Repair Co.

I've removed the foooked soles from the below ready to send but still haven't made the call as to if the best part of £100 is worth it, hence my reference to Meindl stepping up:

This could rescue my elbus pro I don’t know why meindl stopped making them a brilliant boot.
I’ll look into them.

A few weeks ago I posted a link to this company, but was unable to give any feedback other than to say they appeared to have a good reputation.
I can now add that the good reputation is justified.

Expensive? Yes, fairly. I could probably have bought another mid-range pair of boots for what this cost, but these fit me well, are comfy, and the leather is all in good condition. So on balance, I reckoned that resoling the pair was the better option.

Can we ask how much the repair was also the make of the boot please

i have 2 x pair of haix cold weather boots .... 2nd pair starting to seep slightly at the heel but i bought a pir of sealskinz socks ..... i might just send them off do same worth a punt as i notice ...if you can even find them in stock new is same price circa £120 ....i bought mine for £59 from milsurp sites... had 3x seasons beating out of em and comfy as you say

also piece of mind after hearing all the Meindel connoisseurs crying about the quality dropping right off the last couple of years!!! and i cant justify £400 plus for crispis !!

folk must be having same idea as you go on any of the milsurp sites and every lot of boots bar womans / sizes is out of stock

Hi

I have used both LSR and Altberg for boot repairs, and both experiences (sure mine) were very good.

LSR were for a sole that had 'delaminated'? (they were 30yrs old Timberland and only used occassionally), and Altberg for one of their own made to measure boots, again lightly used (hiking) and again sole separating.

LSR did a fantastic job on a pair of Hanwag Trappers for me recently. Not the fastest turnaround but no complaints.

If you have good boots 200 sounds cheap to resole, well worth it, but struggle with why it should take 4-6 weeks, less time to have a custom boot made.
