Been out this morning to check out the rut situation and as soon as I drove into the fields, there were bucks chasing does everywhere!
Managed to call an old one from about 300 meters over a field, but went he stopped, I had no back stop and the sun in my eyes, so I let it go.
Moved on into a high seat in a more shaded area and started calling, and after not even 10 minutes a young buck was charging towards me and stopped 60 yards away.
Managed a left handed neck shot and even though it felt awkward, I couldn’t be more pleased!
The moral of the story is never give up
