The out yesterday or today thread and...

Nice frosty morning here so decided to take out the scatter gun with some “antique” cartridges and have a call for a fox
Worked out well with this dog fox called into and dropped at 13 paces…wasn’t a real need for the Alphamax BB load at that range

Bloody frustrating night - fields are in gutters and very bright moonlight. First fox came in like a collie dog but the 40 mph wind took my smell straight to it and it did a very sharp lh turn and headed for the wood - getting ground with the quads was impossible it was just so muddy to the extent I nearly posted this on Smelly’s Freehand thread! Anyhoo - snap shot as it went up through the fence - soooo did I hit it? Slomo replay showed the tail up as it disappeared - always a good sign but who knows - waddayathink lads?

Then on to opposite side of the road and a fox appeared 20 yards away from behind an old shed, took one look at your hero and took off - can’t really blame it…
I ran squelched through the thick gloop to try and catch sight of it which I did - 200 out and running off, quick demented duck and it stopped broadside - sticks plugged again but got a reasonable hold at 230 and think I clipped it but off it went again; stopped about 50 further on and again I think I heard a good strike but lost sight of it in the grass. Tomorrow a.m. will be a walk with the dog to check for the corpse.
No video cos your hero forgot the record button - just like old times really….

Sometimes one can see warm spatter in the thermal if it was hit.
You have a good reason for a walk in the morning FB now. I bet the dog looks forward to finding them.
Can't tell re the first one mate.

Scuse me! This thread title is “The out yesterday or today thread and...” innit?
I posted this last night (Thursday) so it only qualifies for the “Out last night” thread today (which to many SD types amazement makes it Friday) whilst also still qualifying for the former at that time (phew!).
Anyhoo as reported LAST NIGHT it could nearly have qualified for “ the offhand challenge thread” such were the conditions. That of course was yesterday but as Smelly’s TOCT thread is not time specific it would have indeed qualified…. except I was on sticks - almost…
Now for clarity when I say “I” was on sticks obviously I don’t mean me, at least not yet.
I feel a thread, nay a competition coming on (makes a change from all those voices) -
“Best nearly off sticks shot yesterday, today and last night whilst standing knee deep in mud and sheep droppings”. Only one entry will be accepted per member - obviously last night’s post in the correct thread will be a stunning bar setter….
Personally I blame Smelly but in any event you are welcome….

PS
Found the second “miss” this a.m. - 234 yards with the Zulus. Maybe another thread coming on….
