The wolf whistle

I wolf whistle my workmates on a daily basis. Usually when we are getting showered at the end of the shift, I often receive one in return too. I think we all kind of like it.
Having had this conversation a few years ago with my sister in law and a couple of her friends, they were of the opinion that the odd wolf whistle was fine and seen as a compliment and bit of a confidence boost. Maybe not if it was all the time, but each to their own.
I certainly don’t think it needs to become law, if a lady doesn’t like it, she can ignore it or confront the Whistler. Or maybe whistle back 😉

On that topic.

Just after the second Ice Age, I was a student at a big north London teaching hospital. The nurses there were often subjected to wolf whistling and worse.

One girl was "flashed" at by some tragic creep, in the middle of the day.

He said to her, "What do you think of that?"

She stood her ground and gave the best put down I have ever heard. "It looks like a penis only smaller."

Forgive me as I haven’t read the whole of the thread but feel I want to put in my two penneth.

I am not part of this PC generation and struggle to understand the thought process behind it but I am against the wolf whistle.

My 25 year old daughter has just moved to inner Birmingham to work with a church there and has to walk home on her own. It is only about a dozen houses away but she regularly gets wolf whistles and called ‘whitey’ (I did not know what this meant until she told me). As she is alone she is very intimidated by an obvious predatory attitude. I am sure you gents who do wolf whistle intend it as a compliment but to a stranger it rarely is taken that way by women who often feel vulnerable anyway. Even if your intention is innocent it provokes others to see the individual as something to own or desire. Opening a door to a lady is a given as far as I’m concerned though.

Oh yes , the Gornal staffy 😅
I used to go to Lower Gornal to buy singing birds and swap chickens with a chap there. A bloke called Joe Mallins was the Staffie man when I was young and he had red dogs. An uncle of mine had a pup or two off him. I had a girlfriend from down Cradley/Blackheath some sixty years ago.
Staffies nor chickens ay wot them yowster be.

Fair play to your lass, not a good place to work and live. At one time she would have been as safe as houses in the inner circle, but now I would only venture there at night fully tooled up.
Brumagem has changed just like the whole of the West mids. Schools have gone from excellent to radicalisation centres over sixty years. I went to one which in my time was a Grammar school, and the one my father went to was another Islamic radicalisation centre a couple of years ago. In his time it was on the edge of the fields and he used to drive the cows in for milking on his way home, now it's scary.

I don't venture into Cradley or Blackheath very often . I'm not really sure why ,but I always find them very grim places 😕.

I saw an old black and white picture once , of sheep being driven along Hagley rd , towards the top of broad st .

I used to work the doors in Birmingham from time to time . It's not a place that you can ever drop your guard and relax.

My father was born on a farm in Hay Mills on the Coventry road, it was a village in 1910. Totally agree Mel it's an awful place now.. Used to be a dance hall called the Casino in Corporation street, I used to be on the front there with an ex para mate for a year.

As previously mentioned my daughter does get whistled at occasionally but does not care or is not bothered and when asked why she replied mostly it’s harmless fun or some one being a dick either way doesn’t feel threatened intimidated or harassed perhaps it’s because unlike an awful lot of society she is smart and mentally robust and doesn’t wake up in the morning looking for something desperately to offend her. For a young graduate of 22 in a couple of weeks I’m quite proud of her attitude although we do agree to disagree on other points. After all she is female and I am male…. I know this is difficult for so many people to grasp these days especially for all the beta males that have to wear man nappy’s because their wives tell them too.
For all the simps and cucks that are offended…… post your replies to #darling can I please have the key to my cock lock @ DILLiGAF😘

I am pleased that your daughter has confidence and can live somewhere safe. It is a shame that you see the need to belittle others who don’t and feel it is their fault if they can’t stand up to the bullying. Of course it’s the victims fault!

I guess some people will be offended at being whistled, some will think it's a compliment and some won't give a damn. But I think there's really more pressing matters for governments to be getting on with now and, probably, SD members too come to think of it.

It probably tells you all you need to know about the whistler though. He thinks he's safe on his building site and feels confident with all his workmates around him. A big, hard man. But he wouldn't even dream of doing it if he was walking up the high street with the missus.

I suppose some people will still think drink driving, racial comments, pinching a woman's bum, etc is be socially acceptable. Probably they will also think women should never have been given the right to vote. Luckily the majority of society has moved on to better times.

Yep, much like the attitude some people have when a woman who may have chosen to wear a short skirt it is her fault if she gets raped because she was asking for it.
