Thermal scope advice

Hi all

Looking for some advice on my first thermal scope I'll be using it mainly for foxes out to 150 yards 200 at the most at the minute I'm between the pulsar thermion xg50 and xp50 I won't be going out in bad thermal conditions if I can avoid it anyway so was thinking the xg50 but I don't know I'd like to hear from people with experience with thermals.

XP50 is excellent. Good battery life, easy to use and accurate out to 250 metres on base mag.

I'm out most nights with my scope and highly rate the HIK Thunder TQ50, Easy reaches out to 250yds and easily ID's way further, For the money you can't go wrong

I've had experience with pulsar NV before liked them very much build quality and all. I was looking at the hik thunder also and the new v2 panther there is that many to choose from its hard to know what to do

I’d look at the thermtec ares 360 Senopex a7 and infiray td50. I wouldn’t personally entertain a pulsar thermal scope

not enough magnification for my liking. Picture quality as good or better in other brands for less money

Ive had the Xg50 LRF for about 8 months now, very pleased with it tbh, it’s performed flawlessly. Excellent image in all conditions, very robust, LRF is surprisingly handy especially with the ballistic app and the software is really simple to use. I’ve had several other thermals before, including a higher mag, overhanging mount model and keep coming back to pulsars. They hold value well and just work imo. Much as they are useful for genuinely long range shots, one disadvantage of the dedicated higher mag scopes is that it’s easy to lose your target if it suddenly pops up close or comes in along a gully/hedge. I keep the Xg50 on 12x mag pic-in-pic and base mag (3.5x) on the main image, works well for me.
A mate had the xp50 and comparing the two, the extra mag of the Xg50 was handier for longer shots but they’re both good, prob best to have a look through both at the ranges you’re likely to shoot at to decide?

If you can, get to one of those thermal evenings that dealers sometimes put on, worth seeing the differences in various makes/models. The Infiray th50 is worth a look, though they attract a fair bit of negativity for some reason. I had one and there was lots to like about it, nicest screen to look at and well built, I just preferred the image that pulsar process.

I'm in Ireland over here Andy and very few have them evenings spose the market isn't big enough the only experience I had with a thermal scope was a freinds infiray tl35 wich to be honest I didn't think much of I have a new axion xq35 pro spotter and it makes shite of his infiray scope now he doesn't know much about settings and contrast and all that maybe the image could be got better in it I didn't like to go messing with it when it wasn't mine. I have a NV scope at hhe minute and was wanting to go thermal for the one reason that If a fox pops out close to you you would find him damn near straight away with the thermal the NV is hard to find on even base mag then the ir would be too bright and you know yourself.

I had an xm50 ( for the 5.5 base mag) and have switched to the senopex A7. It is a huge step up in positive ID especially at longer ranges.

ID would be important for me too do you find the senopex a bit to much mag for close shots or no problems your happy with the s7 so far anyway

At 7x mag I don’t find it a problem. Don’t often find a fox at less than 100y on the hills here so more mag is better for myself. The A7 is a bit ungainly and needs quite a high cheek mount as it sits quite high with the 75mm objective. Can’t say I notice the weight to much.no worse than a night vision and a dedicated IR illuminated.
