Things To Do In Lockdown

Just needs the grill for the top or hanging off a chain for height adjustment .....
Add venison burgers & beer ... done
Yep, got the grill sorted, just didn't have it in situ for the photo. Also, different height hooks on two of the uprights enable cooking on spit / kebab skewers at different temps, and the rings on the top of the other two uprights enable a pole to be slid through and the whole thing to be lifted and moved when alight.
Beautiful night last night under the stars, cracked open the first batch of nettle beer, all good.

Generally speaking I hate any kind of metalwork, and I'm crap at welding, but I really enjoyed knocking this together.

I'm continuing my back garden excavations.
I think the large lump is a piece of the old outside toilet's door jamb.
I'm guessing I've unearthed a couple of tons of sandstone blocks of various sizes over the past week or so, all 6-8" thick.
Now I have to find a use for them.

Hi all. Apologies, haven't been on for a while but great to see and read about all the cool things people are getting up to in order to get through this. I hope you and your families are all safe and well. For what its worth, this is what I've been up to since not being able to go to work (though still trying to work from home)...

Job 1: Finish off a few knives...(not stalking knives, just me messing about designs, patinas and handle materials really )

Job 2: A bit of leather work...not my forte but getting a bit better now...

Job 3: Sorting out my beat up old Hultafors knife with a regrind and some tlc...

Job 4: Replacing this disaster... (an Edge pro knock off sharpener) 20200404_162132.webp

...with this DIY job but not yet primed/sprayed or fitted with rubber feet and rare earth magnets. Btw the car body filler is to mask my atrocious welding skills lol!

Job 5: Make a 'stalking' belt. Note to self, never again have the bright idea of doing decorative saddle stitching around the whole length! Took about 3 days alone.

Job 6: And finally, put down the deposit and try to get ready for the imminent arrival (however that's going to work at the moment) of this 6 week old girl 😍

Keep safe and sane everyone...we'll get through this 🙂

The last picture is likely to soak up lots of hours most of them highly enjoyable ( I discount the hours finding treasured items that failed the chew test)

Some great things made by folk on here. Such difficult times for some and tragic for others, but it has allowed many to take time, reflect and enjoy doing things they don't normally have time for. Keep it up.
