This time S62, this time...

Since we're on a bit of a roll, might enter the Dallas Safari Club comp. You never know...
Do you know what?

It would be entirely in keeping with the luck I have, that my "innocent" SD post inspires a fellow member to enter at the last minute, and who then goes on to push me into second place (for which I hasten to add, there is no prize).

Hoist with his own petard.😫

Just kidding. Closest I've been to a safari is watching David Attenborough on tv so you've nothing to worry about. Honestly, good write up. Best of luck

Dear friends of conservation and Rigby,

It gives me the greatest pleasure on behalf of all at Rigby together with our esteemed judges; Mr Robin Hurt, Dr Kevin Robertson and Rigby MD, Mr Marc Newton, that after the rigorous judging of over 100 incredible entries, the inaugural Rigby Dagga Boy Award has been presented to:

Mr Frank Cean (hunter)
Mr Buzz Charlton (PH)

Last Friday, we hosted a casual but well attended presentation at the Dallas Safari Convention where we presented the Rigby Dagga Boy Award and Rigby Big Game rifles in .416 Rigby to Frank Cean, and a .450 Rigby to Buzz Charlton, who was sadly unable to attend, so was collected by co-owner of Charlton McCallum Safari’s, Myles McCullum.

For the avoidance of any doubt, as Dr Kevin Robertson was on this specific hunt observing, his score was not counted towards the scoring metrics used to grade all entries. Rigby MD, Marc Newton had a casting vote and after much deliberation it was decided using the detailed scoring system that the bull taken by Frank Cean was a remarkable example of a post breeding age bull with an incredibly exciting hunt for with this old warrior with PH Buzz Charlton.

We would like to highlight once more that we have been humbled by the interest this award has garnered. We would very much like to publish the entries as a record of this first award but do not feel that the Rigby website or social media is the correct forum to do this and may quite easily be taken out of context when the underlying vision for this award is to gather scientific data, to help the long term future of all of our beloved African buffalo. We therefore intend to publish the entries in a printed book and will make this available to all that entered at our presentation event next year.

We shall host a larger scale off-site event at DSC next year which you will all be very much welcome to attend as our guests. We are extremely grateful for the support this award has received from hunters and PH’s alike. There are two years to run until the panel will judge the next award which will be held at the Dallas Safari Convention in January 2024. Please start sending entries to this as soon as you can!

Congratulations once again to all entrants and we look forward to seeing some of you at SCI next week.

My best,

Simon

It is my intention to appeal the appalling decision announced in the above two posts.

I feel sure that with the unconditional support of every SD member, there is every chance this travesty can be overturned.

Are you all with me?

Are at least most of you with me?

Are some of you with me?

Are any of you with me?

@TH4 you will support me, I know you will...

Hello!

You can't all be ignoring me?

Hello!....🤔

Yeah, yeah, whatever. Far too busy re-reading the Sharpie V Foxy Tales (no relation) saga thrilling thread…..

So the "winner" (present at the convention) takes the prize - writing about a hunt, that he was on, with one of the judges of the competition. :-|

OK...
