Thoughts on Police Actions

After the general zeitgeist on a situation that arose on Friday.

A good friend had been out for a meal and upon her return home at 11.30pm got a knock at the door. Six of Surreys burly constables then forced their way into her house and started demanding she identify herself and everyone else in the house without ANY explanation. She has two boys, 12 and 10 and they were woken up with the ten year old becoming quite distressed at this commotion.

No warrant was produced, no explanation was given and through rather oppressive questioning it became clear they were looking for the previous owner who sold the house 11 years ago and is currently DEAD!💀

When they finally realised they had cocked right up there was no apology they just left muttering about the deceased suspect’s daughters address.

My question is under what law did the do this and what sort of recourse does she have to complain to Surrey Police (Letter to the CC in the first instance) and the Surrey PCC?

if they behaved as described i hope they are all sacked, no need to act like thugs in blue. simple research and a polite word all that was needed.
police crime commisioners are supposed to get involved in an active case, so no use.
ipcc and contact one of the big lawyers like lee day

Don't for one minute believe this I'm afraid Rob - they were all out trying to run a cow over at the time, she must have imagined it.

Sue them for negligence and distress,
The 10 year old can file a separate case as he 'aways wanted to be a policeman' when grown, now he doesn't want anything to do with them and his ideal future life and ideals have been destroyed, gotta be half a mill in that eh wot! And another half a million as he is now a bed wetter.
I would willingly pi$$ the bed every night for half a mill just to prove it ha ha.

An Inspector will hear her complaint at any police station. The whole incident will have been documented on body-worn cameras and complete circumstances available for 28 days at least.

So…… not entirely without bias in this situation then?

No, but with the training and experience that says at best this is an exaggerated tale, at worst BS. Much the same as I expect your experience and training would respond to "Yeah, Muntjac at dusk, 570 yards with a .223, dropped him like a stone, didn't even twitch... He came in cleaned at 280lbs" as WTF...

Title of the thread in "Thoughts on police action" and my thoughts are that it's bollox, whilst the poster went all teenage girl....

Neither of us know what went on as we weren’t there.
Probably best to suspend judgement under those circumstances rather than jump to conclusions?
