Thousands of Trees for the Future.

Wow a "spare" 30 acre field, don't ever move up here! a flat looking 30 acres, I've seen 3 acres planted on some of my farms as long as they chop enough hedge out to get the combine in!

I was thinking the same.
Not many fields as big as 30 acres around here, unless it's open mountain.
Flat fields are even rarer!
There'd have to be some pretty serious grant funding behind the tree planting to make it a better option than renting the field out at £200 - £300 / acre / year around here (North Wales), but I know that farmland in East Anglia, where the OP is, has a very low rental value for some reason, so it probably does stack up financially.
(I rent land in East Anglia, so speaking from experience).
