Ticks!!!

Buy a big bottle of icaridin and lash it on, it is only effective on ticks for about 4 hours whereas it works on midges for maybe 8 hours but if you need to you can put more on during the day. If you buy a big bottle on the following link then you can decant it into smaller pump-spray bottles that you can buy on Amazon or ebay. Put one of the small bottles in all your pockets, jackets, rucksacks etc. and you are good to go.

Permethrin is still your friend when it comes to ticks; they die very smartly afterwards when coming into contact with it when it is sprayed or washed into clothing.

I have at least one stuck in me somewhere after every deer I shoot. I was sat in a fancy restaurant last week, wearing a short sleeved shirt and noticed one on my upper arm. SWMBO was not amused! Just found another on my side whilst showering, think Ive left the barb stuck in me so I'll have to ask the Mrs to inspect. She hates them (and me for bringing them in the house)!
Why is it some people seem to attract them more than others? I stalk with a mate who kills lots more deer than I do and he is rarely bothered by them.
Blood type can be a determining feature, as well as diet, and/or whether your mate wears treated or ex mil clothing impregnated with permethrin. They certainly can't pass over permethrin-treated garments or footwear.

If there is a god which day when he was building the earth did he think, “ Oh yea and we will need Ticks” I suspect same day he remembered to add Midge
There's rather more to it than the God effect, if you care to look into the history of where the original outbreak came from, and how it originated.

Can’t be escaped from China theirs tend to be somewhat deadlier and more disruptive

Is that the American project from UNC and later ( post-Obama banning Gain of Function research on US soil following an outbreak (contained, thankfully) at Chapel Hill) Wuhan, enabled by funding allocator EcoHealth Alliance, perchance?

How it works:

Who developed it:
Nature journal reported in 2015 that a bat virus had been engineered at UNC (University of North Carolina, USA), by Shi Zhengli-Li, Ralph Baric and their teams:

"A SARS-like cluster of circulating bat coronaviruses shows potential for human emergence." Simon Wain-Hobson, a virologist at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, said that the researchers have created a novel virus that "grows remarkably well" in human cells. "If the virus escaped, nobody could predict the trajectory," he said.

Yes them, research in to Gain of Function in Bat/Corona viruses in Wuhan then unbelievable we get a panda mice with patient zero from Wuhan, just coincidence I am sure

Baric at UNC Chapel Hill did the most of the development work, right up until there was a contained outbreak there, whereupon Obama banned all Gain of Function development/research on US soil. Fauci of NIH and Daszak of EcoHealth Alliance (the latter acting as the arms length US taxpayer money handler-launderer in chief for Fauci) and the crew set up the labs in several countries ( including Ukraine as well as China, and others) to continue their 'sterling' work. Senators Ron Johnson and Rand Paul are all over the case, Fauci and Daszak (the latter a Brit) profess innocence. 🤔

Sadly not available in Lincoln green, but 'super sensitive silk touch' and with 'tickly bits' on the 'working ends' 😂
I wear fetching orange version of those, lambing gloves the local farm store calls them. I tend to think the big risk is when leaning into a carcass when gralloching. Not been bitten yet in 15 years stalking although the fallow at the moment are absolutely riddled with ticks.

I also spray clothes with the permethrin spray every so often.

I rarely crawl though, land here is generally very wet.....

The orange ones make for a grand marker flag and scavenger scarer on any carcase that has to be left out overnight, to be collected next day, along with a spent cartridge or some other unfamiliar or human scented item. The blue ones definitely give greater dexterity though. I agree wholeheartedly about the point of maximum potential for contact being when gralloching. It's also a good idea to have the oilskins on when collecting any carcase and tying it onto the quad. 👍🏻

Nae ‘nicky tams’ in Bristol, then… got any rubber bands?

Murdered with ticks just now.
Dogs have multiple removed daily and I’ve had half a dozen in the last 8 weeks

I miss the days vets would sell me frontline.

So far, one of the worst years i have seen for ticks. Removed 8, all dug in, the other day. I skin most of my deer so at a higher risk of getting them. What amazes me is when I look at the bag, the next day, where i put the skin in, all the ticks have crawled up and sit around the top edge, sometimes theres hundreds.
