Luckily we have very few never seen more than 4 on a beast. However a couple of miles away with plenty of bracken is alive with them. I use Ai gloves when doing a gralloch as these go up to shoulders.

Skin before they go in the chiller, the ticks haven’t worked out what’s going on and are still attached in a sealed bag and binned.

Many years ago I worked for a pest control and hygiene company. One of our contracts was a facility that processed a lot of deer carcasses. They had the chill room set up that when the door opened normal lights came on….. when the door closed these went off and a set of the mother of all UV lights came on. There were no zapper panels just the UV tubes…. The company swore by them for killing off any insects including ticks…. They must have thought it worked because I replaced the uv tubes a number of times….

tbh I just check myself really often mid butchering (any I see I wipe off) I've never had one actually successfully attach yet I think just being aware Is a good idea.

I'm very pale skinned though and my arms are shaved..... wanna shave your arms lads? but hey It works, less crap for them to grab.
