Tikka M595 actions

Good afternoon all,

I've been offered a Tikka M595 action as a project. Is there an easy way of putting a 10 shot magazine into it without to much hassle? I appreciate this is an older action, and trying to find an aftermarket stock is nigh on impossible- does the same go for bottom metal and magazine options?

Don't think so. Waters Rifleman seems to make 8rd mag, and 10rd in 223.

Also spare parts availability for older models is drying up (straight from factory). Plastic stuff you usually get, but not metal (extractors etc)

I use an 8rd WR mag on my 6.5x47L Tikka 590 (same a 595 basically but smaller ejection port I think) and it is my go to mag. I also had my 222rem 595 ejector replaced in the last couple of week and the parts were easy enough to get from GMK I understand. That said you are a bit limited with after market parts such as stocks, and its even worse if you are a leftie like me and have LH older Tikkas.
I suspect a good gunsmith could mill out bits of the underside of the receiver and stock to make some after market bottom metal and 10rd mags fit, but there are far easier ways to get access to 10rd capabilities, if that is what you really need. If 8rds, or 9rds if you count 8 in the mag and one up the spout would do for you then the WR mag is a good investment.

Not easy, but can be done, the action needs to be milled out to allow mags to fit, if you're getting it rebarrelled its worth doing as it will have to be proofed anyway. Aftermarket stocks are limited. I love my M595, it my go to rifle, but if you intend to build a PRS rifle or similar, a T3 might be a cheaper and easier option

Form stocks will have them for the 595, I purchased one off them a few years ago now, delighted with the stock my 22/250 sits in it.

Here you go @twoseventy

I have one that Neil modified to take an AICS mag using an AICS chassis.

As above, if you’re getting it rebarrelled it’ll need proof so get the action machined out at the same time.

Didn’t realise Valkyrie did the bottom metal - I might have to see about getting one… Lumley Arms made one back in the day but their website doesn’t list it any more as an old model I guess.

Is it coming to you free ? If its not you will be better buying something else , where parts are more easily obtained . Fitting a none std mag ? Well consider the costs because i doubt you will be over the costs of its value and into the future parts are going to be tougher to find .

Anything will fit if you have the time and money!
No cost saving even if it is free
Having built a custom on a 595 I wouldn’t do it again
You can get GRS,KKC, Form etc and then you can go down the custom inlet of literally anything else for stocks
Mag system is just a case of positioning the mag in the right place
About to put a double stack Sako 75 bottom metal and mag on my single stack three action bolt .300 Norma Magnum Sako 995 TRG-S….

We just sold an .223 RPA in an AICS with a CZ527 mag system!!!
Now someone spent a long time fettling that but it worked perfectly

Huge range of aftermarket parts for tikka t3 and donors can be dirt cheap
Do that instead

Always take the easiest route to the goals that you seek , before going down the hard route

The bottom metal was original and “ machined” to suit by Dave.
Do you have any pics of this please, interested as I didn't think there was enough material on the plastic to allow this, my response was after asking Dave if he still offered this service. Pacific machine and tool used to offer bottom metal for the M595 which required the action milling, but no longer trade
Edit, my error CDI precision

Which is probably where they were sourced from

It would be preferential to me to have a Remington long action footprint bottom metal that utilises Tikka T3 style magazines ,,,,but that’s off topic
