Tikka t3 lite v browning x bolt

Hello

im looking to get a 6.5 x55 and am looking at the Tikka t3 lite or browning x bolt back in 2012 there was a thread that did not rate the x bolt based on the trigger I think browning have introduced a new trigger system and was wondering what people thought now. Also has anyone got experience of a GRS stock are they any good in the field

Great caliber choice

hands down i would choose a tikka t3 over a browning any day

GRS stocks are nice but very heavy , great for varminting or targets but not really needed for stalking

Hands down X Bolt over the T3 any day!!

Much nicer stock, stainless fluted for similar money to a blued T3, more models factory threaded, smooth feed from the rotary magazine. and now as a totally new trigger mechanism which is extremely crisp.

I have the X bolt, and love it.
Trigger has Zero creep, very crisp! It also has one of the best composite stocks out there, imo. The feed is very smooth and the gun shoots better than I can.
But the only niggle is that the trigger weight is limited to no lower than 3lb.
Different triggers can be got now to reduce that.

I have both a T3 in 6.5x55 and an xbolt in 30-06. Both shoot really well, feed well and are light. The stock has a slightly better feel on the X-bolt but there is very little in it. My advice is to go and shoulder both and buy the one that feels the best.

Why they won't import the Tikka to the USA in 6.5x55mm or 7x64, I cannot understand.

Muir, what do you think of the T3x vs the T3?

A plug for the X-Bolt. My son has one in 7mm-08 and loves it. His has very nice wood on it, a nice balance, and shoots very well with every ammunition we have tried in it.

I have owned both in 243 blue synthetic and without a doubt the tikka t3 is the far superior gun in everyway. Just better quality and more refined, handles a lot better. just an all round better gun in my opinion

I would go T3 as well TBH.

I've shot a T3 and handled an X-Bolt, and the trigger on the X-Bolt is basically a shotgun trigger whereas the T3's is much more like a rifle "should" be.

The T3's also do shoot nicely, are accurate and have nice barrels. Plus I like the safety catch on the Tikka's (along side the bolt) far more than the Browning which again is rather like an o/u shotgun safety catch.

X-bolt for me, the stock is far superior to the T3 in my opinion, but whichever way you go they are both good rifles.

I have a T3 lite in 270 cal and a Sako 85 in 243. As a pure workhorse it's hard to beat the T3. It is very accurate, light weight and has a very good trigger, though the stock is a made of a hard plastic which may not be to everyone's liking. I would try to compare them both together in a Gunshop, If you intend to keep the rifle long term then choose which ever feels better to you. I would say that the T3 will hold its value a lot better though if you decide to sell it at some later date.... Personally I would go for the T3, I had my stock dipped in an Autumn woodland camo pattern which looks a lot better than the original plain black stock in my opinion.

T3 values are dropping due to the T3x, did you put expanding foam in the butt to get rid of the horrible hollow sound ? ILove the round action of the X bolt a much better feel to it, accuracy wise nothing in it, but the X bolt is more expensive.

I just bought a Tikka T3 Lite .308 and it is as good as the other replys have said I zeroed it in 6 shots ,a mate also bought a T3 in 30.06 wee went out on the hill a couple of nights ago to zero it after 7/8 shots his three rounds on four attempts were all grouping under 1inch .
I wish I had bought one years ago.

I have a T3 hunter in 243, which is a very accurate rifle and would recommend it. However, I've just bought a 308 and whittled my choice down to a T3X lite or Browning X Bolt Hunter Eclipse. I eventually opted for the Browning as it has a laminate thumb hole stock. If you are fancying the GRS stock the Hunter Eclipse version of the shoot may be a good alternative. The trigger is nice and crisp, has a good action, very accurate. Feels and looks great also.

I've had both. Both feel nice and both are accurate, however the trigger on the tika was adjustable to what I wanted. The trigger was adjustable to 3lbs only. Too heavy for me.

Never owned a T3, but have had a couple of brownings, first an X bolt, then an A bolt.
I would happily have another A bolt, but not an X bolt, once was enough, didn't like the trigger
and the stock is far too flexible.

I have the X bolt in .243 better feel than the T3 mine is the stainless stalker with the fluted barrel nice and light.
