Time to get Proactive???

I feel that we, the fieldsports community are constantly on the back foot, having to respond to attacks usually in the form of some sensationalist outrage on a social media website. I think that public opinion is swaying more against hunting and shooting with increasing numbers of people living their lives on planet Facebook.
I’ve been thinking that if we, as a community, took the fight to them and started demanding changes in the directions that we want, they’d be so preoccupied defending against our demands, they’d have less time to film fake interviews and organise their online nonsense campaigns....
Is there a proactive organisation out there capable of organising marches, rallies, petitions and other events to take the fight to the enemy?? Nobody seems to be doing anything other than defend.

Marches, rallies etc won't get us anywhere. Too militant. It's bad enough that we've got guns, but when whole groups of us take to the streets we'll just be labelled as armed rioters, even if we leave the guns at home!

What we should be doing is getting shooting into schools (OK, let's not have any silly comments - I don't want to be banned like Tim243). Target shooting should be part of the sports curriculum, and preparation of game should be part of the Home Ecc curriculum. Our only hope is to "normalise" what we do, to achieve a more widespread acceptance.

Too late to do anything.
Shooting as we know it is doomed, it’s just a matter of time.
Too many organisations with their own agendas.
No constitution protecting our rights like USA.
Increasingly a Police state.
No politicians with ball$.
I could go on but I’d have to go on anti depressants

Correct enjoy it while you can

Being proactive doesn’t have to mean being militant with placards, banners and shouting in the street.
A friend and I had this conversation the other day....if you really want to hit them where it hurts, how about proving that we are the true conservationists...... it wouldn’t take too much to start purchasing land in the UK, to set aside purely for conservation purposes. As a community, I’m certain that we could raise a lot of dosh very easily, every year. I’m talking about purchasing the un-farmable marshland, heathland and estuaries, which hold little commercial value, but have great value as nature reserves etc

then it could be "rewilded" with shooters. yeah that would work,,,, all you need to do now is get the 150.000 people currently paying 78 quid each year to a certain shooting association to collectively pool their cash and outbid the rspb and other similar organisations. n heres what your up against among others. Who owns England? Land ownership map

You’re spot on. I reckon before I’m old there will be no private gun ownership in the uk, just government outsourced/licensed culling companies.

I feel it’s time bow hunting came back legally tbh so we can prepare for that day...don’t known whether to say I’m joking or not in all honesty!

What’s with the negativity and pessimism?
you know what? A man’s character cements his fate, good or bad

what's with the inane comments, just because someones opinion is different to your own, lighten up.

maybe you should try and get a sense of humour.
