Tips for removing fallow rear lower legs

Interesting question. It was presented at 2 different best practice events I attended - issue is I have a pdf and those are screenshots. I’ll see if I can attach it…….

Sadly, it keeps on saying its too large even though I've shrunk it by a quarter to 1.6 Mb. I'll try again tomorrow using my work PC software.
Would love to see a copy as well

Maybe you could upload the file to a sharing site (Google drive. Dropbox. WeTransfer.) and put a link here

That’s a really good read thank you - is the lung shot spot in the wrong position? Looks the same as a spine shot or am Ingoing mad / badly educated?

Regardless it’s a really good read.

Hi all - frustratingly I still occasionally seem to get the cut wrong when removing the rear lower legs/ hooves on fallow. I find the joint rather confusing. Does anyone have any tips for finding the right place to make the cut please?

Many thanks
Nothing big in the chiller but the cut is just the same, pushing the leg against the joint with the result of the joint giving away.
Yes it is a muntjac but the same spot with a fallow will work (for me anyway)

I understand shears are quite common on the continent. I was surprised when a candidate produced a pair on an assessment - not my way of doing it but as long as it’s hygienic and safe, it’s the candidate’s choice.

I've got a pair of those orange handled Lowe ones somewhere - they work a treat on munties and roe (neither of which I shoot many of currently, mind you). Gives a lovely straight, clean cut and often much tidies than you can manage with a saw but wouldn't fancy them on fallow or reds.
