Called in on Saturday and the 'haven't had time' to take the gun out again.

However, they have now said that their is a bit of burning in the first inch or two of the barrel but it 'shouldn't' affect the accuracy.

I've taken the gun back and will have it looked at and rebarreled as required.
The sako 75 have an enviable reputation so it's worth barreling. Tighten the twist up a bit to future proof yourself for copper bullets. I'm sure you'll be well pleased with the results.

Been that long now I cannae mind wot u done initially.

Did u try to zero/group it with mod off?

Dunno if that model has a free floating barrel? If it does u should be able to slide a piece of paper below barrel right to action.
If it snags anywhere that could be ur problem.

I'm sure others could list the simple/cheap things to check before u go to expense of a rebarrel.

Thanks but I've tried all that kind of stuff.
I think I'll clean it to within an inch of its life and give it one last try 😭

Cleaning it sounds like the last thing to do but given the barrel erosion is at the start of the bullet’s flight I’m not entirely convinced you’ve identified the problem.

I would simply move it on in the SD Classifieds and purchase a nice new Sako 90.

I'm not as experienced as some on here esp when it comes to cleaning rifle barrels ( was always told not to bother, and some gun shops still laugh at u if u ask for rifle cleaning kit)

But generally with a crap/ pitted or corroded barrel u want to build up a load of crap in barrel to even the pitting out.
Dunno if there is anything u can do to dirty barrel other than putting some shots down it.

I know u say u have done everything, but did u not also say new to rifles.
Do u have an experienced mate that could go out and just spend a few hours going throu all the basics just to check u have over looked anything.
Just to try a save u a few quid, u never know

This will certainly not help but my experience with 22-250 (several through the years) is
1. Front bolt is very sensitive to traction force i.e. stock may wrongly pressure barrel or be too lose
2. Bullet weight is crucial to precision. Needs of testing different weights and makes relative to barrel twist

When one sees POI on page 2 there seems to be some linear pattern there which comes from issue(s) with the rifle as such and not from a worn out barrel.

Because I’m feeling generous and I feel your pain - I neither need or want the extra work but you’ve had I feel a pretty **** experience

I offer you the following (the op that is)

You pay for the barrel and proof

Phoenix Sako hunter or varmint barrel in whatever twist you need chambered 23-250 and with thread for mod or brake

I’ll Revarrel for rifle for nothing

Just let me know either way please if you want to proceed or not

Happy either way
