Trailcams

Sorry for posting into an older thread but just got a Secacam wide angle, based on this thread, having had a Spypoint micro LTE. Only had it a couple of days so can’t comment on battery etc and I haven’t compared official resolution but very happy with the picture quality and the viewing angle.

These photos are from roughly the same spot, although months apart. Had the Spypoint for a couple of years and loved it and will still use it but so far am very impressed with the Zeiss 2024-12-30_11-50-34.webp2024-12-30_11-51-05.webpIMG_2386.webp

Have been using the Zeiss Secacam 5 for around 4 months now, can’t fault it- had first battery change week before Xmas.

Yep they’re very good. Decent batteries are a must though.
Part of my problem with the Hik is using Duracell batteries,I found using Aerocell from Lidl(I understand that they are made by Varta) battery life is much improved which is an opinion shared by several others when I researched it.

I found a site that said to avoid Duracell as there were issues with some trailcams. I’d been using them for a while and on my Zeiss they were lasting a couple of weeks. Have swapped to Energizer Ultimate Lithium on the Spypoint and after 3 weeks they are still reporting 100%. For the Zeiss with more traffic and videos I’ve rigged up a 12v battery I used for a pigeon magnet in a waterproof box (with some ventilation) and so far so good.

Can the Secacam 1 be operated without the cellular facility? i.e. by viewing images captured on the SD card on the internal screen?

I'm looking for a quality camera such as this but don't use a smartphone.

I’ve been using Campark TC06 cameras for a few years now and they are excellent for the money ( about £80 )
Great battery life and easy to use through their app. Non cellular so no subscription.
Great image quality as you can see on my YouTube channel.

i have a Zeiss Secacam 5 any tips on the best settings also i cant alter the time its a hour fast
I had the same issue with the Secacam 3 I bought last month.

I contacted Zeiss and this is the response I got from them:

You can try resetting the camera to factory settings, which may help with the time issue. Please note, however, that we are already aware of this problem in the system and are working on a solution. The manual time adjustment is currently disabled due to this.
We appreciate your patience while we resolve this issue.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
