Trigger

Just curious what weight people like their triggers set at, I bought a rifle recently and it’s the same make as another rifle I have, both have excellent triggers but one is noticeably heavier and has a little creep before breaking, I also noticed that the set trigger feature wasn’t functioning and it looks like that was due to someone over adjusting it, my usual trigger is fantastic at 2lbs but this one seems to be adjusted way over that!

Jewell trigger on Remington breaks at 8oz, superb. Sako =2lb. R8 1.5

If I could I would have jewell's on them all breaking at 8oz

Because I’m swapping between two rifles that are identical other than caliber, it’s nice that the triggers perform the same way, you know the saying, “beware the man with one gun” Well this is the closest thing to that I can manage! 😂
I can relate to that. I have 2 identical rifles, one in 243 and one in 270. I hadn't realised how bad the 243 trigger was until I bought the 270, but then swapping back and forth between the two became a nightmare as they were so different in regards to trigger pull, yet all of the other muscle memories were the same. My mate @pendle (who has far more experience in these matters than I do) commented on how sweet the trigger was on the 270 when he tried it, so I promptly stripped down the 243 and adjusted trigger pull to exactly match the 270. It has made it a beauty to shoot, and no more issues swapping between the two rifles.

1lb-1.5lb is my preference. Nowt worse than a heavy creepy trigger. I had a set trigger on a anscutz .222 that was excellent, and another on a 7mm RM tikka. I’d have one in a flash on my sako 6.5 but I’m not certain they exist, and if they did it’d be major money.

Every rifle I have had is set at 1.5lb, on CZ 527 that drop to half a pound or a little less if the set function is used.
Any I had that won't go that low get moved on quite quickly.

Neil.

that’s pretty much the same here although the trigger wasn’t too bad on the second rifle it just felt noticeably different but now that they are the same weight you could close your eyes and have someone hand you either rifle and I doubt anyone would tell the difference...(apart from the nicer recoil on the 06 verses the 243 😂)

I always thought Sako had them built in....guess not!..🤔

Whatever it comes from the factory with 🤷‍♂️

My S&L rifles have adjustable triggers but I've never touched them. My Marlin and shotguns dont as far as I know so they just are what they are. My hornet has a set trigger which is adjustable but again never touched it.

You can order at the factory I think, I bought me 75 SH though. The chap who rebarreled/stocked it put a new spring in and worked on it and it’s 1.5lb now so nice. The tikka I had I ordered from new so stipulated a set trigger and it was lovely.
