Tripod and hog saddle v a set of b&q twin sticks

I scored a Manfrotto tripod and head from a car boot sale for a tenner, complete with quick release plate, added a 3D printed hog saddle. now got a sweet setup for ambushing squirrels at a feeder or rats in the back garden. Wouldn't want to lug this little lot through the undergrowth though, so the B&Q quads get used for that.

Quads can only offer more stability but I dislike them as they can be pigs to set up and tricky to move if the quarry is stop starting or you have more than one target to nail in succession.

Primos are flimsy but if you pin the feet - you can adjust height and left/right with fluid ease.

A sturdy carbon tripod and ball head are my choice potentially offering 360° of fire or getting on tsrget if your arc of fire is wide. Quads struggle with this. Quads also cant go kneeling or prone where the right tripod can.

I do like spartens magnetic finger but the Davros head is limited and the pro version is hugely more expensive.

Hog saddles work but can cheap n nasty to silly money.

Insnipe more than stalk so a tripod is my solution. Quads are a PITA for me

I got hold of a Recon tripod with hog saddle to try. A very sturdy, light and well made tripod but I found the quads much more stable for the longer shot. I certainly wouldn't want to stalk using this particular type of tripod though it would be useful to use in an ambush situation. I've been stalking with quad sticks for years so setting them up and panning/moving them is second nature for me.
