Truck rooftop shooting

Used to shoot foxes mainly from quad sticks or bipod but recently started shooting from the roof of the truck. I have some carpet for the roof and tailgate , just wondering who else shoots using this method and any handy tips or pics. Thanks

Rubber backed mat and butt bag plus bipod. I used to use a Harris but that bounced a tiny bit. Now use a Atlas which can be loaded by lightly leaning into it.
Interestingly the vehicle doesn't seem to put the Foxes off, but that may be because a lot my shooting is from Farm yards and barns and I park up against the buildings.
Keep any light behind you, keep still and only switch the IR on at the last minute. Good luck.

Nissan Xtrail with the big sunroof, Ive fashioned some steel around it for a rest/roof rack , 360 degree shooting in all weathers.
I have a bag arca railed to the bottom of the gun, plus bipod if needed, it gives height and cover.
Most of my quarry shooting is done like this.

I've recently taken to this

I've bought a Spartan suction mount and one of their adjustable arms(?) (can't think of the description they use)

Together with their Y shaped rest it makes for a useful shooting platform without scratching the paintwork to b*ggery

It (suction device) will apparently also stick to the window

PS they have - apparently - stopped selling them on open market, so if interested, contact them directly

I do a tonne of rabbit shooting from the drivers seat of my van, I just use a piece of pipe lagging over the window, very much want one of these Eagle Eye Racken Rest II

But I’m a tight git so have held off so far, shooting off the roof can be very handy especially near farm yards etc where they are used to seeing trucks/vehicles around anyway

Had many a year of it, …. “Out last night” , used to have a Hi Cap Land rover pick up with a hard canopy completely boarded out, two could shoot prone off the top, flyboy270 used to cart me around on his tailboard same m.o., I have a towball mounted firing step on the jimny now.

I had one of these N and J Aluminium foxing canopies on my previous pickup.
Very effective.
Its amazing how much more you see over the hedges with that little bit of extra height.

I am not going to rely on my uneducated guesswork on pressure waves, but just cover all the bases, I have shot .300 WinMags, .375 H&H, 9.3 X 62 over the roof & glazing .... I would probably be more likely to cover the screen with an old range mat.
I just remembered I had a Land Rover window destroyed in a thunderstorm, heck of a boom of thunder.
