I think I'm inclined to agree with the tyre dealer: People buy them because they look cool. Most of those people probably only go off road when they park on the pavement. So that's basically what they're designed and sold for.

I had the A/Ts and they were useless for the mud we have

Lots of our work is in clay - and no matter how good the tread once they full up of clay they all struggle
Having the correct driving technique is key - and tbh i havent always got that either !

I had silver - one of the discos - just about up to the axles the other day as the melt came so fast
Luckily reverse - some power - some grip - i just escaped

I used it again today to get up our top bank - all clay and she made it
I rate them
 
Falken wildpeak m/t are a good tyre, had a set on a navara,
Had a few different makes in various vehicles, general grabber x3 muds, km3 bfg mud terrain, cooper stt's,

Yes noiser, yes tyre life isn't as good if your doing alot of road miles, but for raking about the wet feilds they are far superior, ive had far more luck getting in and out of some questionable areas with the triaxle float loaded up,

Feedback from someone who's actually used them is exactly what I was looking for 👍
 
I’m using maxis bighorn mud terrains. I used to use BF as they had such a good reputation (both all terrain and mud terrains) but changed due to the cost. I think that if you want a road tyre that is okayish off road then the bf all terrain Is a good tyre but for any serious off roading they are lacking. Once I did change I wish I did years ago as the bighorns perform much better off road. I’m getting about 45k miles out of mine, they make a bit of a droning noise on the motorway but it is what it is, I need to be able to get my truck into some pretty awful places and a tyre that is silent on the road won’t allow me to do that.
 
I find the BFG MT's a really good all rounder - quiet and grippy on and off road. I think people generally overinflate them and expect miracles from rwd pickups.

I probably won't be able to afford them again when they wear out and will go for a cheap more off road oriented tyre, which will be noisier and not as good on the road:
