Evening all,
Been looking for a new home. From Cheshire to Devon. Strict criteria - the home assessment matrix (HAM).
We walked a property today with 50 or so acres, land which had hardly been touched in the last 50 , maybe 75 years. We Walked down by the local river, within the plot, small but with trout and a few ponds which were overgrown but had lots of potential for wildlife. We walked into a marshy field and, apart from lady's smock, there were roe deer, a couple, you could clearly see where they had laid -up. Walked a bit further and saw a single roe doe. She was obviously startled by our presence but stayed within maybe 70 yds after whistling her. I suspected a fawn but within 10 yds, there was a 2 /3 days old youngster. Absolutely stunned by the land and the fawn and keen now to buy the land. House is a bit less than I hoped for but the fawn has convinced me. It is rare that nature is the final positive but this time feel I should go for it.
Since the shooting rights run with the land, if successful, I will offer an opportunity for a youngster - when the land is in my ownership.
I am forced to reappraise my view of things by a roe deer and her fawn - unexpected, but understood.
