Unlawful changes to England gamebird release licence challenged by BASC

Lawyers acting on behalf of BASC today filed a claim at the High Court for a Judicial Review of Defra’s decision to fundamentally change the licensing regime for the release of game birds in certain areas of England.

I strongly suspect that NE have taken the precautionary principle by not issuing licences.

The lack of licences does not stop individual shoots engaging with NE of their intentions to release birds , provide details and also mitigation designed to protect the designated sites.

By not issuing licences they are protecting the integrity of the sac and spa’s which is their duty.
