unproofed rifle

I learnt my lesson the expensive way two years ago.
Two years ago I had my .22lr rethreaded, decided a month or so later to have it re-proofed.
At a cost of £50 this was arranged by my local shop, rifle came back with nice fresh London Proof House
marks on the right side of the action, and the mark on the barrel by the thread, well that would be a no.
They did not bother, I called and asked and was told that it was not needed.
(yes they did know it had been shortened, well at 12 ⅛" long it's pretty self evident)
Total waste of money, and I now have an extra set of marks which now go rusty for fun.

Neil. :)

My rifles are all threaded. My .22 I bought brand new with factory threads. My 22-250 and .270 I bought second hand already threaded 1/2 UNF so I know it wasn't done at the factory. It didn't even cross my mind to ask if they had been reproofed, nor was any mention of it made by the RFDs

Its been Law since sometime after 1868 so must be well agreed in legal terms.

Nothing is agreed in law or lawyers wouldn't exist!!

The whole system of British law revolves around the aspect of interpretation
do you really think if there was a clear breach of law that the police or cps wouldn't be all over this like a cheap suit?!
