I learnt my lesson the expensive way two years ago.
Two years ago I had my .22lr rethreaded, decided a month or so later to have it re-proofed.
At a cost of £50 this was arranged by my local shop, rifle came back with nice fresh London Proof House
marks on the right side of the action, and the mark on the barrel by the thread, well that would be a no.
They did not bother, I called and asked and was told that it was not needed.
(yes they did know it had been shortened, well at 12 ⅛" long it's pretty self evident)
Total waste of money, and I now have an extra set of marks which now go rusty for fun.
