If anyone needs a ferret finder collar I have one available used, .......Mk3?....Certainly a good shot at that range though...Albeit a bit low and far back...What was the reaction to the shot? and I dont mean yours!....;)

160yrds and not only could you see it was a ferret but you could also see it was wearing a collar , right , and i sailed up the thames in a barbed wire boat . Ive been a keeper for 30 years and its rubbish like this that gets peoples backs up , theres nothing to be gained from posting pictures like this its first class willy waggling and dam good anti ammo

Didn't see reaction, .234 and t4 means you loose picture when shot, I was taking the **** about the coller. Every keeper should have NV! Cats look much different - I know..........

There are lots of escapee gone wild ferrets around and as ferreting as a 8 year old introduced me to air rifles then pigeon shooting i kinda like the little characters and i wouldn't shoot one unless it was giving me bother around my pens which i have never heard of but if it was a Mink, no problem. Why post the picture though, kids look in here too.

Pretty unlikely to be a polecat, rare, large and wary. Fitch ferret, yes. Highly unlikely to do any great damage, escapees can and will live a fair while in the wild I once saw a white jill with five youngsters she had brought up, she wass living wild on the cliffs near here. They will feed on rabbit, rat, voles etc: and unless they get into a chicken house where the birds can't get away they would find it extremely difficult to catch feathered food.
Over the years I havce either picked up or had given ferrets that have been lost, they always look a bit tatty but being fairly resourceful little creatures providing there is something there for them they will manage.

I picked it up in the lamp, then looked at it through my scope/archer (40x combined mag). I knew exactly what it was and even waited for it to move off the top of the heap to get a backstop behind it. Nothing wrong with my shooting mate. As for sickening pictures, some of the roebucks I see posted on here make me want to cry, animals with great potential shot before their time by idiots who just want to get a shot off!!!! If anyone needs a ferret finder collar I have one available used, .......
Offroad Gary,

I think you fail to miss that your opening post in this thread is one to get peoples backs up and was uncalled for, and despite the reaction from some members you fail to see and make the connection here about how some people feel about these creature and the connection they have. I started out as a young boy with ferrets, it was how I caught my first rabbit. I know for sure I'm not the only one that is upset by this picture. Despite this you try to make light of this by mentioning 'ferret finder collar available'. Whether it was said tongue in check or not you have failed to grasp any sense of decency.

How do you think people would feel if some one posted a picture of a Labrador they shot that was chasing sheep, posted it and boasted about how he hit it at 275yards whilst running. P.S. Any one need a collar for a dog called Teal. Its not quiet the same but its the same lines.

And as for Roe bucks shot before there time, its a crying shame, you mean trophy time not quality of meat time therefore IMO there is no debate on ethics there is there?

If you had a ferret giving you problems and you had no option then fair enough. But to go about boasting the way you have...

You've really got my back up like no other on this site. You are a grade a ****.

Spot on aliS. I couldn't have phrased this better.

idiots who just want to get a shot off!!!!

Obviously Gary isn't discerning enough to see the irony in his own words. Braggart and psychopath are two more terms that sprang instantly to mind.

Steady on chaps, why not use the pm facility , or complain direct to Admin, no sense in scratching , kicking , & biting in public.

I suppose I could have complained to admin and PM'd the site member, but I personnally beleived he was so way off the mark it was relevant to the initial topic. I beleive I was not just speaking from my own point of view.

Firstly: Band wagons are mentioned occasionally and people are quick to become critics of 'Questionable' back stops etc... But the first post still reads that he knew it was smaller than a fox shot it then ID'd it. It does not read, saw it was a ferret and shot it.

Secondly: A lot of people on here have or had ferrets whether as a boy or still to this day, to some this was the way they where introduced to this sporting world.

Third: He mocked the situation on two further post's made after two other established posters had lodged there upset at the initial post.

I stand by my initial post on this thread.

Ali

ali, i have just looked at my first post to delete the picture but i see the hand of god beat me to it!

i am immeasurably apoloagetic for the distress that i have caused you.

firstly, my first post reads i had a clser look (meaning through the 40x archer scope combo), i knew what it was when i shot it.
secondly, i would not have ferrets near my house, they stink, and i think hunting with them is somewhat sadistic and just a little bit wrong.
third, what is a ****? give us a clue i'm dying to know.

thanks for your comments

You have not caused me distress however I beleive you fail to see the point I tried to make. Your post was blatently something a percentage of people were not impressed with and some voiced there opinion on that, in which you replied in mochary. I'd like to beleive we all in this site have similar interest despite coming from a wide and varied background. Open mined and accepting sort of people, who understand there is a balance of things and a grime reality to life. Shooting an animal to food or to protect crops and or stock (including hatched game birds). We can call it sport and enjoy it and this is acceptable as it is in our nature to be such a way however there are part of society which don't in which case they can steer clear. With this we should have a degree compassion, a respect for wildlife, our surrounding, and other people who enjoy similar pastimes. Some of us have dogs which are in many cases considered to be a member of the family others may just consider them a tool for a job. Either way both sides usually respect the other. Further to this other people use ferrets, they enjoy there sport and fulfil a service to many a farmer, crofter and gardener. Again I'd expect some one from the same background or with similar interests to respect this. You have failed to grasp this concept.

Its not your actions that have crossed the line but your attitude, did you even read any of the other replies in this thread??
