Up Close Ratting Scope Recommendations

Hi All,

Out Air Rifle ratting last night on a new permission. One serious hot spot was the feed shed, unfortunately it’s only 4 yards square and my MTC 4-16 X 50 won’t focus down to sub 10 yards with the Pard 007 on it.

So looking for a scope for really up close and personal stuff that can be fitted with the Pard. Are there any new cheap and cheerful scopes that have come on the market or is it the Hawke 2-7x32 AO and UTG Bug Buster the two go to scopes still?

Thanks.

My Hawke Airmax Compact 3-12x40/Pard 007 (12mm) is brilliant for Rats as it gives full screen FOV in the Pard, but it won`t focus down to 4yds. 9yds is the minimum I can get.

Not necessarily what you wanted, but in and around my stables I use a .22 pcp topped with a photon xt, most shots are less than 10yrds and I find it perfect. You can probably pick one up used for less than a cheapish scope....you will need a set of adjustable rings though....

Is there no residual light so as you could use open sights with a bit of tipex or glow in the dark paint on them?
It has to be pitch black before they come out which is a bit of a pain for me as I try to avoid stumbling around feed bags and everything else in there.

Has anyone tried a Nikko Night eater 2.5-10x42 with a Pard on it?

Shooting rats that close with nv wont be easy. Cant you chuck a handful of terriers in there?
Why??.....they don’t know you’re there....they tend to congregate in the same areas, use the thermal, line them up and pull the trigger....I can usually have 3 or 4 a night in 5 mins....

Why do you have to be in the shed, if its that small stand outside with the door open and shoot in. Your scope will work fine then.
