Upgrading game storage

Good evening

I need to upgrade from my converted larder fridges to a "proper" chiller / game fridge as need more space and storage between game dealer pick ups. Needs to accommodate fallow. Any recommendations on the Coolgame kit or Huntsman game larder from angel refrigeration or similar?

Thanks

Good timing - I'm in the same position at looking to upgrade to something bigger than my current larger fridge. I've got a full height commercial fridge, but internal dimensions are only 40x45x150cm (i.e. standard 600mm wide) so can I get a single fallow in there at a push but nothing larger and multiple deer are a challenge (other than a couple of munties).

Ideally I'm looking for something that'll take a few smaller deer or a red on the odd occasion I get one. I've inquired about the SMH small chiller, but they have advised it's only suitable for roe and fallow and you'd struggle to get a red in there (other than small hind / calf). Dimensions (external) are 200cm x 100cmm x 100cm, but there is part of the chiller unit sitting inside taking up some space. Looking on the Coolgame website they claim their chiller with external dimensions of 206cm x 88cm x 88cm would take a couple of highland reds (although theirs doesn't have any internal chiller "kit").

So basically, who's being honest and who's being overly optimistic / pessimistic?? How large do I need in order to be able to hang a single red comfortably?

BTW - needs to go in the corner of a modest garden outbuilding, so not got the space for a modular coldroom.

Fitting large deer into chillers is the easy bit. Actually lifting them into a confined space is where it gets difficult! That's the bit you need to get right to avoid personal injury.

Agreed. Even a roe doe is awkward if you are holding it up one handed fiddling with hooks and gambrels inside a chiller.

I have seen advertised a hanging rail system with a telescoping section which projects out in front of the chiller. You hang the carcass outside and then slide it into the cabinet, remove rail extension and close door. It was fairly inexpensive but it would be fairly simple to make.

Oops, just had another look at your link MS, you have already been there and done that.

Cheers chaps. Lucky enough that I've got expose beams above my chiller so can attach a sling / hoist and basically lower / push the deer into the chiller until I can get it on the hooks. Not perfect, but much better than supporting the dead weight of the carcass.

As an update, I spoke to Rob at SMH last night - super helpful and knows his stuff about deer etc. Basically their unit is bigger than the equivalent Landvig one (sold by Coldgame etc) and whilst he reckons you could get a red in the SMH unit, it wouldn't be ideal and neck may touch the floor etc if it was a biggun. Also, as the hanging system is part of the chiller structure, so you'd be limited by weight you could hang in there (prob 110-130kg - sounds plenty for what I need), but I suspect this is the case for any similar fridge / chillers.
