Uploading Larger Pictures

There is a trend to try and upload larger and larger pictures onto our site that is more than we would need.

Sometimes you will get this:


Here is how you can limit the size using iPhone/iPad...

In the bottom of the page when you choose a picture to upload, choose 'Options' or (the options icon) and then 'Large' or less.






When you upload the image they will be just as large as you will ever need...

My preferred method is to USB cable tether the android to my PC. [Since I have the PC running for other internet work, I also check SD]

To upload from android is simple: Settings > Connected devices > USB Preferences > USB controlled by and then select "File transfer".

Android device temporarily becomes a memory stick connected to the PC. Photos are in: Internal Storage > DCIM

Another way is to do a Screenshot and save to your photo album then add in the usual way

Am I right in thinking that the website strips meta data from uploaded images? [Excellent if it does as that protects those who are unaware that photos natively carry location image was taken...]

I think it currently location strips all the larger images (which run through the add-on), but I'm not sure what it does with the smaller (sub 1024KB/1600x1600 images). Have you tried?

No specific size-related testing. [I pre-strip all my recent images using software before uploading]

But none of my older postings seem to contain any meta data either. Those earlier images would have been taken on older digital platforms which did not strip meta at source. Based on that discovery, I assumed it was xenforo editing out the meta content.
