Venison pricing levels

Highland Game were £3 kg last year for bucks over 16kg.

Peterbourgh Game are running vans twice a week up the east coast of Scotland doing pickups, I've been offered £3.50 kg.

East coast not really suitable for me, though I am quite happy with Vickers Game at the moment.
Thanks for the info anyhow.

Just a point to consider - I note several comments about carcases being sold with and without fur.Are those selling "nude" carcases (i.e. without fur coats) registered as AGHE's as the processing of a carcase beyond Gralloch, head and legs off and fur on is beyond that authorised for licensed hunters

I would think that is about right. I think that in order to skin the animal you must be a AGHE or a local registered food business under the local council.

Hi Mark. How far up are they going?Getting £3 a kilo the now picked up from the door.

Blackface (Dumfries and Galloway) gave me £2.50 per kilo last week
*chest shot and heart and lungs removed
*with fur on and head removed
*I drove them to their premises
This worked out at about £100 for three roe.

Can I give one small piece of advice... If the deal seems too good to be true then it probably is. I stongly recommend getting cash on collection. Some dealers are very good at paying promptly for the first couple of collections then the fun and games start. Not so bad if its the odd roe here and there but you can have some sleepless nights if you are owed for several collections of 30+ prime fallow. JC

Dave,

I'm going to speak to Richard at Peterbourgh Game tommorrow to discuss pickups and details for next week. I'll ask him for you and report back.

Cheers,
Mark.
