Vermin Control With A Lab

Out shooting a few rabbits again this afternoon. Great few hours working the dog.

Enjoying it much more than the shooting itself, however I have to say that I’d forgotten how great the 204 was having not picked it up for over a year.

Tiny groups with the 39gr Blitz making it easy to shoot rabbits out to 200 yards off sticks. With spring around the corner I really wish the shops had better stocks of Blitzkings 🙈

What a beautiful dog. I bought my first dog other than my springers about 2 years ago. My last springer was killed by an idiot speeding in a pick up truck towing a house trailer. The neighbour's lab had a litter of pups. The bitch is a purebred lab and the stud is a purebred lab/purebred standard poodle cross. The pup I bought from her is completely black and looks exactly like the one pictured. I am sure a dog guru could pick out the difference but I can't and anyone that has seen her can't. She looks exactly like the one in this picture. She will fetch in the water until she drowns and is dynamite on pheasants and grouse. I like dogs better than I like most people. Thanks for sharing this image.

Thanks very much. Can’t see myself moving away from labs. The black one loves retrieving in water too. One of her favourite things. She had a litter last year and I kept one of the red ones (below).

He’s still a bit daft, but I’m hoping he has potential. Recall is really good and he doesn’t chase anything that pops up.

Need to start doing a bit more training with him. Especially as he’s now 12 months old.C3039FF9-F18F-4F24-B0E7-3113C529FC7E.webp

Shooting alone is seldom as enjoyable as shooting with the dogs! It feels wrong going alone nowadays! Love pinging rabbits with the .17hmr and sending the dog on, saves some walking for sure 😆
