Very dry in Bristol area

Looks like a repeat of last year's drought is on the cards. Bone dry here. No rain for 1 month. All the ditches on my perms are bone dry. 1st cut grass on one farm came off last night and ground like concrete. Dust everywhere on the tracks. My garden is looking a sorry state and now watering daily. Black birds searching in unusual places for food and water. Sadly found a wren drowned in a bucket of water.

Sadly what we will just have to get use to. It’s why the North & South Downs are now littered with vineyards as we can produce wine to very much rival France.

Try a bottle of this if you doubt me:
Or this:

Ps: Sorry about the wren

Good choice of wine. Have visited Chappel down. I have several bottles of white and fizz in wine rack. I had a great deal in Morrisons on Flint dry 50% off in reduced section. Got x4 bottles.

We here in Lancs havnt had rain for 3 weeks. Lawn goin brown.
Yes, the bowling greens are starting to get rather dry around here as well as the gardens. The wife is having to water the garden each evening with a watering can to keep the plants going. As for Bristol, I was speaking with my brother who lives in Coalpit Heath just yesterday and he was saying how dry it was down there. He had his son over from Australia and his son even commented on how warm and dry it was near Bristol.
I'd love to see a bit of rain, but just steady rain through the night so that the ground has a chance to absorb it but from what I have seen on the forecasts there isn't too much chance of that for a little while!

Just finished my first cut yesterday. About 1/3 down in volume, but exceptional quality. Silage was turning into hay before we had a chance to bale and wrap it.

On Sunday they were cutting rowing up and picking up all at the same time. ! Straight into clamp. Quite a bit down to hay should be v good. Some silage made 1 month ago but grow back v stunted.

We really could do with a short break in the weather, but then again if we didn't complain we would not be keeping up with the British tradition of complaining about everything - And the "Off Topic" section would be empty!;)

It's getting really dry down here in Devon, and Cornwall. some parts have had a hosepipe ban since last year, now all of Devon has got one and there's no sign of any rain to come. With the early very heavy rainfall followed by the prolonged warm weather crop growth overall has been amazing. However, It looks like another problematic summer for many if we don't get rain soon.

Make a lot of hay, and you need a lot of hay.
Dry summers look after themselves.
So they say!
