what and incredible display of both voice and musicianship.
Totally agreed, a good musician is one who doesn't hog the limelight, he encourages others to perform above their level, these musicians all know about crescendo & diminuendo. Dont know if you saw any of these TransAtlantic sessions on the BBC, well worth getting hold of the dvd's or iplayer? The best of British Celtic & Americana singers & players, including memorable performances from Jerry Douglas, John Martyn & Danny Thompson, well worth a look.

Slightly related. In 1978ish for one night only a folk trio got up on stage in a remote Pennine pub.
They called themselves the Wolly wombats and consisted of Tony Capstick [guitar vocal] Cardy Montgomery [fujara]and yours truly [Guitar vocals] we did two songs that I clearly remember, difficult as I was inebriated and i was not alone, Tony was the same and Cardy a west Indian, well who knows!
The two songs were Mr punch and Judy Man and May you never and I'm sure it was quite a different rendition than this one. lol
I sometimes wonder what happened to those wonderful times past, seems a lifetime ago.
