Vinyl Friday

I didn't know, & we were only allowed 30 guests, it was like watching him in your living room, what a geezer, what a career. I asked him how come he slipped under the radar of fame & fortune, he said thank f...k for that! Might do a rerun in the Summer, if we ever get out of lockdown, I'll make sure you get an invite, bring tent or caravan.

Interesting as in my previous reply I was going to go on to say I felt Michael may have been somewhat over-shadowed by our other National Treasure, Roy Harper, but as you know MC has never considered himself a "folk singer" and certainly doesn’t ramble on (rant?) as much as RH is renowned for at a gig. In fact I once became so ****ed-off with Roy’s ratio of chat to playing at the Woolwich Tram Shed I shouted at him to “shut the f***-up and play!”

Promise there will be no such outburst if your kind invite come to pass.

Not too sure about Roy Harper, saw him play a couple a times, good lyricist, but there is a dark cloud hanging over his credibility, unproven but smoke without fire? hmm, slightly tainted talent. No doubt there was a lot of young girls hanging around rock stars then, & probably still is. My wife said as a young girl she used to fancy Gary Glitter, so she went to see him play, she was only 13.. She said "shame, I never realised I stood a chance!' Moving swiftly on.......

Any way, yes, an absolute fantastic songwriter. Once met him at Glastonbury, sitting round a campfire, when this bloke pulls up takes a guitar off his back, & plays for an hour, as long as I shared my whiskey with him. Didn't realise who he was, till someone said that was Roy Harper!

We were very fortunate in September that Michael Chapman accepted an invitation to come down to the farm for a night. We put the marquee up. roe deer on the BBQ, & were given a right treat, Nice one Michael, 80 last Sunday!

Thank you for the reminder.

I went up to London in 1974 to buy a new guitar and to catch up with a potential girlfriend who had just come back from a season working at the Banff Springs Hotel after we left college. Michael Chapman had played at college and she had bought one his LPs.

I am slightly ashamed to say that I spent the entire weekend post guitar purchase replaying and learning Michael Chapman’s version of Walking Blues, and consequently did not further my relationship with the young lady in question. :(

Where are you now Frances? Still have the guitar so some consolation.

Nice anal setup there, is that an SME arm?
No. A cheep as chips Pro-Ject Carbon. The replacement Ortofon stylus cost as much as the turntable & arm!

I am however looking for a an SME or similar arm for my Michell Gyrodec as I never got around to replacing the one my Daughter bent out of shape at the age of 3!

Show off! Never managed to get beyond the Focus II, but at least the arm's still here and working, lol!

You've trumped mine again, the more basic version, but that's engineering for you, if I hadn't been told otherwise, there'd have been a couple likes in the offing.
