Vinyl Friday hint,
Keeping my vinyl clean, in an old dirty farmhouse, with a dirty dog & open fires & muddy shoes is pretty important. Its actually more important to clean brad new vinyl than old. When you buy a new record & take it out of the sleeve, its usually charged to the hilt with static, it literally pulls all the crud off your clothes, bits of fluff dog hairs metal filings & carbon etc & pills them right down into the bottom of the groove. Then you return record to sleeve & hey presto, you just turned your record sleeve into an abrasive emery paper, you will hear it scratch your record when you next pull it out, & you will certainly hear those pops & clicks. Record cleaning with a proper machine washes off static as well as release moulds. They don't need doing for ages. And get some decent polythene lined paper sleeves, they don't cost much, & they don't scratch.
