Vorn Lynx Rucksack

Afternoon folks,

I currently use a Monarch Roe Waist Sack, like this which is great. I then have my binos on a harness and my rifle on a Z aim sling...it's all a bit uncomfortable.

Yesterday I tried my mates Vorn Lynx Rucksack, which I must say is impressive and very comfortable. I just wondered whether your aim can be knocked out with the set up? If the price wasn't so high, I'd buy one of these tomorrow...but £250 for a small rucksack is steep!

Any advice from people out there? How have you found them? Is there something else on the market that's as comfortable but cheaper?

I wouldn't be without mine now.

IMHO they are impractical for a quick woodland stalking outing, the reality of the quick release is that unless you are a 13yr old Russian gymnast you arent going to get the rifle out and in to a firing position any quicker that you can with a traditional sling. Besides, if you need to get a rifle out that quickly whilst woodland stalking you need to look at your field craft.

Where it comes in to its own is hill stalking. You can carry the rifle, radio, drag rope, lunch and waterproofs all in one place.

Game changer.

Yeah, I had a go and seemed to be able to release the rifle pretty quickly! Thank for the advice...it seems I'm on a slippery slope....
 
Yeah ive got one to try , but you need arms like orangatang to reach rifle !! . Only thing i thought was there heavy before you put owt in i got it with 20% off deal

I really like mine. Its heavy for it's size but once strapped on it is very comfortable and you can stash all sorts of stuff in it. Getting the rifle out is easy, getting it back can be fiddly with a physically large rifle and scope setup. I'll soon be trying mine with a short lever action rifle and I'm really looking forward to that.

I have one and really like it, no problem with taking the rifle out quick BUT NOT like they say with taking it above your schouder but I just take it from below. There’s a YouTube video on it somewhere, when I find it I will post it.
 
Good quality & comfortable but not cheap & pretty heavy as they come. Have the Lynx but must be the odd one out as wish I’d gone for the Deer. Not everyone’s cup of tea but get on with mine.
 
Anyone who recommends Vorn has not tried the Kifaru Gunbearer system, which can be fitted to most packs with waistbelts.

Faster, cheaper and more sensible than a Vorn which requires you to take the pack off to put the rifle back in.

I agree, I use the Kifaru too, really good, excellent for safety and muzzle awareness too

reach round the small of your back to grap the rifle, not over your shoulder. Release is quick and easy that way for not so supple folk
 
Wouldn't be with out my Vorn Lynx, like someone has already said not the best for woodland stalking but excellent out on the hill and for any long walking you may need to do. Once all straps are pulled tight it's really comfortable.
 
Plus one for the Lynx - stalked Arran for a week with a guy using one and I was totally sold on them. Bought my own and have used it for the 5 weeks done subsequently. Great for long days on the hill - not too big and not too small. A few Kuiu bags on the straps add useful quick-access pockets for nibbles, thermal, etc.

There is a good reason why Vorn has not caught on in the USA where a hunt may involve multiple days under the stars and not a leisurely trundle round an estate...

agree..... but then I don’t need anything for days under the stars,, ..I need something comfortable to walk in the woods ,climb fences, rocks and hills and then I prefer my gun not to be swinging on my side.
But I do very much like the idea of a combination from both, I don’t immediately find a place where I can order it in Europe but it looks simple enough to make it yourself so thank you very much for pointing out because I didn’t knew the system
