Vortex binos - how to lanyard eyepiece cover

My first pair of binos just arrived which is obviously very exciting. Have just had a fiddle around setting them up along with the glasspak harness.

The eyepieces have removable cover which looks like it’s supposed to be lanyards on, I’ve looped part of the harness through it that retains the binos - is this how it’s supposed to be done?

Personally I've taken the rubber covers off when using a decent bino harness as that offers enough protection for me and I find the rubber covers get in the way.
