I read a advert on SD for sitting out for boar at night for £180 per evening. So as the boar have been coming to the feeder every third night so i thought i would sit out and see if i could get one for the freezer. There have been bigger boar coming but as the weather has been warm and they would not fit in my old fridge i use, i have not bothered them.
I've had a lot of trouble with jays eating maize from the feeder but over the last couple of weekends i must have shot over 40 with the .22.
I sat out friday night from 22.00-03.00 and only saw a roe doe. Last night i was in the tower at 22.15 and the boar came at just before 24.00 as they have done for the last few visits. 2 sows with 8 young. One of the sows was of the spotted type. So i singled out one of the young and dropped it with a shot in the ear. 35kg live weight so should give me just unde 20kg of good eating.
But not only that i saved £360 by not paying for sitting out but i get to keep the meat for nothing
£360 thats nearly a ton of maize
