No, really, I don’t…

I really do deserve this pint 🍺

Just got back in after clearing up from a very productive 50 mins sat in a new ladder that I picked up a few weeks ago, put up last weekend & sat in for the first time this afternoon.

Got to seat at 1455, first shot fired at 1505 - roe doe.

1540, second shot - muntjac buck.

Decided I’d pop the mag out & bomb up again ‘just in case’ - good job too as 8 fallow appeared from the right almost straight away!

1541, third shot - fallow doe.

1542, fourth shot - fallow fawn.

1542, fifth shot - fallow fawn.

Then the realisation… the car is 20 mins walk away, I’ve got 5 deer down, I’ve never had more than 4 on the carrier before, will they all fit, I’d better get out of this ladder & clear up before I lose the light 😳

An hour later I’m back at the chiller ready to start the hard work - shooting them is the easy bit!

Glad to say the brass catcher did an outstanding job & I didn’t lose a single one of my precious 6.5x47 Lapua cases 👍

I'll say it if others won't: Very well done.

That is indeed some after-shot pain but at least you've a larder and game dealer to deal with the clutter!

K
Thanks K - we’ve got 12 hooks in the chiller, there are 4 of us who are out over the holidays & the dealer doesn’t open again until 31 December. So our ‘quota’ was 3 each over the 4 days after Boxing Day… have already started doubling the Muntjac up on the gambrels to save space - if it gets really full we’ve had 3 on a gambrel before!

Some kind of record 3 of the six in less than an hour! Well done not envious in the least.

BC.
We only have the three where we are, although I’ve shot Sika down in the New Forest. Got some friends up in the Essex/Suffolk area & hope to be able to get the missing 2 at some point.

Have to say I was quite surprised to get 5 deer with less than 40 mins between first & last shots!

You say about the sika in the New forest I took a picture once with red, fallow, sika and roe in the same field.

Well, only deserved a half tonight… so as I don’t do halves I had a large 🥃 instead.

Another 20 min walk back to the car from another ladder at the opposite end of the farm.

Early doors saw a Roe doe on the deck - little did I know what a decoy effect she’d have when at very last light 6 Fallow came out of the wood. Their curiosity was to be the downfall of 2 of them. No video to watch back tonight as due to risk of fog/mist again & shooting over open fields I took the 308 out with the ‘baby Hubble’ on it - it got that late I had to switch the red dot on 🔴

Anyway, another 3 in the chiller & fingers crossed the dealer is open tomorrow as there’s no more room 😳

This doe season is going well 👍
