What’s your oldest kit

Here's one from just before the one above I'd guess. A bird clearly gone back behind the beating line so although low nevertheless a safe shot. No cartridge bag, no stick seat and that scruffy looking old coat...I remember it well hanging in the gunroom...had pockets large enough to carry what cartridges you need as a walking gun so, yes, that's what he's doing. Walking gun.

Just to resurrect an old thread, realised that the Alan Wood knife I used today on a doe and very regularly has been mine since the mid eighties. Still using a 1975 Sako in 308 as well.

View attachment 376356Paul Webley sbs hammer gun made some time between 1870-1885. Still my favourite shotgun; it fits me better than any of the others. It’s been sleeved & I had it Teague choked as cylinder & full was a bit limiting. It’s won me a good few sbs competitions over the years.
And the man can bloody well shoot great with it too! Put me to shame on the clays if it’s the same gun I recall 👌

Very nice, you certainly purchased very well at the time, blade and rifle are still the best out there, I still wish I hadn’t sold my 85 but still have the AW blades 👍

Mine will be my Theoben sirocco Grand Prix in
.177. I got it from my uncle when I was 14 or 15. So I've had it at least 28 years.

Recently sent the stock sent away for refinishing, and I'm awaiting a new ram seal to get it fully restored.

1907 Arthur Turner 12g boxlock.

Its taken birds every season since new other than 1941-45. I make a point of shooting a couple each year just to keep the run going.

Sorry for the poor photo - but it nearly always gets a rise from any Yanks who see it.

In the late nineties I worked in a gunshop. I have a couple of things that are in daily use from that era. A custom .20cal Falcon air rifle I built from parts and paid off weekly from my wages. That air gun has accounted for a huge volume of game and currently resides in the spare room overlooking the bird feeders. Also a buck knife I sold to a good friend. He died a few years ago and I inherited it back and keep it busy in his memory

Quilted Barbour long-sleeved and collarless vest - probably 40 plus years old. Torn, worn and patched more times than I can remember but two handwarmer pockets, two deep side pockets and an enormous poacher’s pocket. - brilliant on shoot outings of any description and perfect for dog training paraphernalia. Last year I bought the same on t’internet but far too good to wear out…..

Regret it now, but my uncle left me his hammer action, Damascus sbs. No idea on age but damn it must have been old. I sold it in my 20s for about £50 ☹️. I'm the least sentimental person alive but I regret that a bit.
