What dog boxes have you got?

Lintran. Had it for 20 years. Painted the metalwork once, gaffer tape on the corner where I wore a hole from dragging it.

Money well spent.

That is very smart - and you've done a fine job. :tiphat: Heaven knows what my attempt at the same might look like!
You'd knock one together easy enough, Dom. It's just a sheet of stokbord, some aluminium angle from Jewsons and a bag of pop rivets. I looked at enough professionally built dog crates to know that that's basically all they are. The stokbord is easy to bend, too. Just clamp it between a couple of pieces of steel along the line where you want to bend, play a hot air gun back and forth along the line for a while, then simply fold it over. That's how I angled the back of the box to follow the contour of the back of the seats.

Apologies to the OP if this is too far off-topic...

What are people's views about dog car cages made of mesh (e.g. Barjo) and those with solid back and sides (e.g. transK9, Lintran)? I had a Barjo mesh cage in my Audi Q5, which was fine. However, I've sold the Audi and need another cage (the Barjo one doesn't fit because it's about half an inch too tall... Anyone know if it could be lowered???).

Initially I liked the idea of a mesh cage because the dog wouldn't be so confined. But thinking about it, when the tailgate is closed, it can only see out of the upper part of the cage anyway, which is open (I think).

Comments appreciated.

Animal Transit Boxes are good. I’ve been using them since 2017 without any issues. Custom built to whatever specifications you want. I haven’t tried any others though so can’t compare to anything.

I got CAB to do a custom box for my Amarok. Well chuffed with their work and customer service.
Hi
Can I ask what material you using to cover the door hinge gap? My youngest GWP was always getting her toes stuck in the gap so now I throw an only horse saddle cloth over the gap, that covering you are using looks ideal.

I've got a double TransK9 in my Disco. It is absolutely excellent. The only problem? It is heavy and with the size of it, it's a two person job to get it in and out when you want to use the load space for anything else. Not sure I'd swap it for anything else though.

I’ve had 3 Lintran boxes over the past 20 years absolutely brilliant. Had a box and gun cabinet made for my Nissan Navara, proved to be a perfect shooting companion.

I have TransK9 double dog box in mine, but if I was going for drawer system and dog box combo for a truck I’d look at Gearmate.

Its a thick rubber mat from CAB which covers the whole of the load bed and tailgate. It works a treat....https://www.cabtransitboxes.co.uk/optional_extras/bumper_mat.php

Do a Google search for ribbed stable matting. You can buy it in a large roll from eBay and similar. I’ve used it to replace the rubber matting in Lintran boxes when it’s worn out, as well as fold-down mats that sit under the cage itself and then cover the tailgate.

Had a K9 in the Santa Fe, now have Gearmate drawers plus dog box in the DMax for the labs. Wife has a Lintran in the Forester for the cockers. All are very well made and functional, plus side of the Lintran - much easier to shift around than the Gearmate or K9

I have always had TransK9 dog boxes (4 so far to be precise).

I’m the new year I am having a new truck delivered and I am think about getting a gun drawer and double dog cage setup.

So far I have shortened the list down to CAB Animal Transit Boxes, and Animal Transit Boxes Ltd.

Just looking to hear what other people have, and what their experiences have been?
Trans K9. Worth the expense .

I have a box from Donderry Dog Boxes, also have a deer crate with mush raiser in the bottom which sits down the side of it.

I have a setup from Animal Transit Boxes, Security drawers below, and a custom kennel big enough for three labs and the terrorist springer. They made several custom mods for me and I find quality of the kit to be first class. It's easy to clean, impervious to any kind of abuse and the locks are excellent. The fitting was extremely well done, and quick. They are perhaps not the cheapest, but looking at modern K9s that I've seen, I wouldn't go past Animal Transit Boxes.

Trans K9 for the following reason ,about 4 years ago my wife was in a horrendous traffic accident where our pick up ended up on its roof with the canopy crushed , she was in hospital for days with internal injuries, the truck was written off but the 5 dogs in the Trans k9 were shell shocked but unharmed.

Trans K9. Perfect fit in the new car. Bought the bumper protector as well. Managed to find the box second hand for a bargain price too.
